I think it's easy to write James' writing style as corny sometimes, but in a situation like this I really appreciate his positivity and authenticity. Really good response to a bad thing.
http://www.spin.com/2016/12/beach-s...ebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=facebook this is pretty cool. new touring lineup
Hmm, thinking about it I think a large part of the beach slang aesthetic is less the music and more the voice. He's kind of only got the one setting, or at least he does on record. If he stretched out what he did with it, I'm sure this will be fine. But I don't think anyone thinks that will happen and that's why we mostly want the music to change
I remember seeing Aurore play with Potty Mouth when I saw them open for Beach Slang, as well as when I saw them open for CHVRCHES, so it's cool that she'll be playing with the band.
Just got into these as I'm seeing them at 2000 Trees and had struggled until now to fully get into them. Today it clicked. I already can't wait.
I definitely wouldn't say it was bad, and they were really funny, but it was just a lot different than I had expected. Felt like a string of skits with them playing some music now and then
Weird! They played 25 songs or so last time I caught them headlining. That was with a 50% different lineup than it is now though, and their performance definitely lives and dies by whatever mood James is in that night haha
yeah, they were always a super super fun live band i can't think of a band that i (and many others) turned on quicker than these guys though. what a whirlwind of a two years haha
Was it just because of the last record? Definitely a dud, but it has Punks in a Disco Bar so there's at least that.
started between the two full lengths, seeing them like three or four times in that span and just being hit with his thing over and over had me worn out by the time we got to the second record, which was already a rehash of the EPs, and their sound barely wavers so it's just overwhelming
haha seriously, I recommended them to a friend around the time of the first record and now I can't stand it when he puts them on
i loved the EPs so much and was so ready for them to blow up when the first album came out, still had that on my top 30 list that year now i'm so over them hahaha
It wasn't bad like I said, just different than I was expecting haha. I was also suffering from being kind of tired of them by the time I saw them - too much of the same (even tho the first ep is still ace) and they played nothing I was hoping to hear :(
