Quite a few reports are coming in that say things did not go well at Beach Slang’s show in Salt Lake City last night: Rumors are running rampant that Philly Replacements revivalists Beach Slang broke up onstage last night at their show at Salt Lake City’s Kilby Court. Fans who were at the show describe a scene where frontman James Alex announced onstage that this would be their last show and the crowd would be given refunds at the door. Being at a show where the touring band breaks up on stage is pretty …. awkward. — Ben (@BenHibsh) April 29, 2016 Expand - View Original
The band posted a message on Facebook, reassuring people they're not breaking up. May have been a little meltdown. Or that Replacements' bio, Trouble Boys, may just be messing with James, which is understandable. That book is wild. Even I felt like needed to go into rehab after reading about that madness.
Yeah.....that's a really big decision to just will-nilly make during a show, wth. I'm sure his bandmates are loving it.
Well, glad they're not breaking up. Really interested to see where they'll go with LP2 (since it's already recorded and what not). Hopefully none of this was spur of the moment and they can fix / talk out their problems and be a sustainable band for the foreseeable future.
