Since when has that stopped anyone? What hype is there for new Bob Dylan/Springsteen/Neil young records? Still get on a ton of rock sites lists

 

beach slang doesn't have a tenth of the name value as those acts do

 

not really his point. lack of pre release hype doesn't mean pubs won't hop on after the fact

i just don't think there's anything about this record that'll actually do that, it's much worse than the last one, the hype is a lot less, the band has stagnated lately.

 

doesn't mean people like hayden and greenwald aren't still going to glom onto it

 

i just don't think they're going to as much

 

this band is diminishing returns for me (& likely everyone else). last album was meh - i was probably too generous when i wrote about it - ep before that was far worse than their first. totally forgot this album was coming out

 

Part of the perceived lack of hype is the fact that all of their previous released were incredibly overhyped. I love this band but the hype on the first 2 releases especially was a lot.

I like greenwald, primarily for his television criticism, but Hayden is the biggest White Rock Boy nerd on the face of the planet and manages to turn every topic back to that and it's horrible

i love that y'all keep spelling it "hayden," does he google his name all the time or what

 

anyway he's awful, dull stylist with dull ideas, tries way too hard to centralize Important (Celebration) Rock

 

listening to his podcast with klosterman was great because you can audibly hear chuck's eyes rolling out of his head

 

it must be so boring to be a critic and have your entire aesthetic and reputation built on defending guitars from Teens

 

i dont like klosterman either honestly
