Yep. Review should go up early next week, but it's a very good record. Slightly prefer Somersault overall, at least at this point, but it's a great amalgamation of everything they've done and feels like a perfect summer record for sure
This was solid! Feels like there’s a little less diversity here than Somersault, but I’m cool with it pretty much riding one wave the whole way through if the songs are good enough. Really beautiful guitar tones obviously. Maybe a slight bummer that a couple of my faves get cut off after the second chorus, would be cool to hear Tough Love and Dare Me breathe a little more. Very excited for my next beach day
Caught this band supporting Modest Mouse and enjoyed the show. Definitely upped the energy from their recordings. Don't Fade Away is great. Will definitely check out the album. I will say I was shocked at their high streaming numbers. I don't think a single person at the Modest Mouse show sang along to Beach Fossils, even to Down The Line. I wondered if their streaming popularity might have more to do with their music fitting very seamlessly into indie and indie chill playlists, and less to do with a passionate fan base?
I'm sure a lot of people do love them and maybe their success just hasn't translated here in Australia. I was asking if that's the case not assuming. And I don't even mean it as a knock to say they are playlist friendly. That means people like the sound of your music which has to be a positive.
I dig this band but if I’m being honest this album gave me a strong urge to listen to Wild Nothing instead
Nocturne is probably my favorite modern dream-pop record by a wide margin but I haven't been into anything he's released since then
Indigo is very underappreciated! Both bands I think did a co-headlining tour not that long ago I think, hope they do it again.
Indigo is great but took me a while to really gain a greater appreciation for it since at the time I really wanted Nocturne 2.0 after getting Empty Estate and Life of Pause back to back which were both huge misses personally. I selfishly wish they'd do that same coheadliner again since I was across the country at the time and couldn't make it.
I'll be happy to hear some PV + GN songs at least. Its been more than a few years since I went out of my way to see Turnover live but they should fit well with a Beach Fossils crowd. Wish the Boston show was not at HOB tho (Roadrunner is way better)!
I like both bands but don’t have much desire to see Beach Fossils live and have definitely already seen Turnover enough times. Plus Myself In The Way was just such an L
I must state once again that Altogether is painfully slept on and definitely my favorite Turnover record.. but yeah Myself In The Way is half killer half filler at best.
How are Beach Fossils live? I know Turnover is meh, but they’re one of my favorite bands so I’m still stoked.
