Couple of growers on the second listen, as expected. I don’t know about playing it cover to cover very often and I don’t have thoughts on the songwriting yet, but there’s a lot to like. infinity room is a really nice call back to those really early lo-fi tracks
I definitely don’t think this has the immediacy as the previous EP and Honeymoon, but I’m into it. I love the production and her voice sounds great. Going to definitely be a solid low key beach album for me and will be a good play for the rest of summer. It’s biggest flaw is I’m listening to this directly after Pool Kids.
I’ve listened to this a few more times and think it’s actually amazing. I get why others might not be as into it, but it’s giving me exactly what I was hoping for.
I think it’s more disappointing for me following the blame game ep. I feel like that pushed their sound in some cool directions and this just abandoned it
Yeah I enjoyed the Blame Game EP, I thought that was a cool little teaser for where they were going next sound wise, but I guess not haha
One of the best shows I've ever been to last night (except for the moshing, and the new songs seeming really under-rehearsed).
We were right next to the only pit for a while, the sweatiest guys kept being shoved in my direction, no thanks
They played with a lot of emo bands when they first came up so moshing was the norm at their shows. I think with the expanded audience it's dropped a bit but Beach Bunny had some quality push-pits going on. Even at her first show which was acoustic there was a bit of jokey shoving going on.
Idk what moshing is going on at BB shows these days but the videos from ln look very tame. Real ones remember the Prom Queen release show
It really felt like it wasn't a thing for 90% of the crowd, but that 10% was really getting into it Some of the new songs sounded great! Loved Gravity and Weeds and Entropy, most of the time they sounded so polished. She said "we're gonna wing this one" a few times before some of the other new ones, I think they were trying them out but they probably won't be in the Lolla set.
That would have been sick to be at. It's cool they went back to the same place they did the Prom Queen EP release show at
Wikipedia and a few people I have talked to are saying Matt has left the band. He hasn’t been with them on recent tour dates either. Not sure of the reasoning though.
I saw them in St. Paul opening for Panic and yeah, Matt was gone and so was Anthony their bassist. Wonder what's been going on. Getting too big too fast for them or internal fighting? Crazy to lose two members that quickly.
I was at their Subt show around Lolla and the vibes felt off all night. Not even surprised, hope she gets an all girl backing group together and starts fresh.
Kind of a shitty thing to wish upon the dudes in her band who presumably do this as their job and haven’t done anything wrong (that we know of)
I didn't notice anything off about the Subterranean show, idk it seemed celebratory to me. Matt was missing from Coachella too but I think he was there weekend 1 so I assumed he got sick or something. Maybe there was more to it though
