Y'all can keep fighting this fight but this is clearly just the way most albums are released now (at least for bands like this)
delayed bc of vinyl pressing, I think it was supposed to be out in like march or april, I know they were really sad about it.
Figured as much, but releasing singles for 9 months is absolutely brutal for those who want to enjoy the record as a whole. It would have been a lot better if they had released Oxygen in 2022 instead of as a teaser for the album. (better for me. I'm being selfish.)
I’m typically bad at it but thankfully am holding off from listening to the singles. I played Oxygen to death I think listened once to Fire Escape. Everything else will be fresh and new for me. But it’s still pretty far out lol
This played about as well as I figured it would. It's not an improvement to me and I don't expect to come back to much of it, but there's enough here to feed my enthusiasm for this group.
This was okay, but I really miss the sound they had going before the debut. Their pre-debut songs were what drew me into the band, and even the debut was pretty solid. This just does not hit the same way unfortunately. It's not bad but it's not an instant fall in love with it album for me.
This is a fantastic record. Was expecting less and got more! might be the best first listen I’ve had on any album this year.
yeah this is kinda feeling like bb on autopilot for me so far. feels so flat, the hooks dont pop, i know pretty much exactly whats gonna happen at every moment of every song. bummer
I want more songs like Painkiller or Prom Queen or Sports or even Cloud 9 (not *exacrly* like them but the general tone/vibe I mean) which have big hooks and just go off and have a lot of energy to the songs. I don’t really feel like any of these songs have that. That was what Beach Bunny was really good at in the beginning of their career and even up to the debut, making those types of songs.
Really happy with this record, it's a bit less immediate yes but there's a lot of layers to these songs and I think they're going to continue to sound better and better with repeat listens. It's already happening for me with the singles, I didn't love Karaoke when it first came out but in context it's a really gorgeous song. Love the dance break/outro in Deadweight
While I do wish there was some more uptempo bops like Cuffing Season, I'm really digging this. I don't normally enjoy indie music but the hooks are there, even if they're subtle. These songs are going to be stuck in my head after a few listens. There's a lot to dig into here.
Haven’t listened to the full thing yet but Oxygen didn’t wow me at first and is now one of my favorite BB songs
Lol maybe I just didn't listen to this band as much (I've spun the EPs a few times) but this album whips. The production is fucking great, sounds like it was written for stadiums. Real Avril energy, but like, Avril fronting Weezer or something. I had virtually nothing riding on this but enjoyed my first listen so much that I'm already excited to go back to it
I now have this intrusive thought of Avril fronting Weezer during the Weezer dark ages. imagine Avril singing pork and beans. Lol I need it.
