Finally catching up to this. They're a very solid career band now. "I've Been Dead All Day" is awesome.
Yeah, I love this new album. Not as much as I love Shudder though. Shudder > KT> Cult = Vacancy > Everything else
I doubt I'll ever listen to this again (or any other Bayside record) when I can listen to Killing Time
Had a long drive this past weekend and threw Vacancy on for the first time in months. Entire album still holds up very well.
Vacancy was my most listened to record last year along with the new Neurosis. I was in a real shitty place in my life so I resonated with it a lot and kept coming back to it. That and every song has a great hook.
i wish i liked their newer stuff more because i still absolutely adore their back catalog up through shudder
i like killing time well enough but its not on the same level as the first four for me and even shudder isnt on the level of the first three which are completely untouchable to me, each one of them for different reasons.
I'd put Killing Time with the first 3, and would say the ones I revisit the least are Shudder, Cult, and Vacancy.
vacancy is better than cult and has some pretty decent tunes on it. they're becoming pretty solid elder statesmen of their scene, not necessarily doing anything that wows me but a band i'll always root for nonetheless and see anytime they come around.
Vacancy still holds up pretty well for me. All their albums do, but yeah, I much prefer ST/TWW and Shudder to their last three albums, but by no means do I consider any of them bad.
I'm realizing how little I've listened to Vacancy. I like it fine, I think I was mostly listening to a ton of other stuff when it came out. I need to like reassess it
some of the lyrics on sirens are pretty rough, but there's some absolutely brilliant writing all over it as well I wonder when, when I'll finally understand Why time can wash away love like it was made of sand And it's wonderful, the pain that comes with regret Sometimes you have to see the beauty in all of this loneliness thats to this day my favorite bayside song
