the only album of theirs i dont like is cult but id start at the beginning and move forward. the first four are pretty unbeatable.
Assuming you like Killing Time, I'd probably go: The Walking Wounded, Bayside, Interrobang, Shudder (you can't really go wrong - the acoustic releases are great, too) I'd probably rank them: The Walking Wounded Bayside - Vacancy Killing Time - Interrobang Shudder - Sirens And Condolences Cult
sirens bayside the walking wounded shudder killing time interrobang vacancy cult but again cult is the only one i dont like and the top four are all pretty much equal to me
If all someone has heard/enjoyed is Killing Time, I’d probably recommend Interrobang or these new songs. I adore the earlier records, but they don’t have the same level of polish and Anthony’s voice was definitely a little rougher around the edges back then
I gave Cult an 8/10 when I was still writing reviews and basically never choose it when I'm in the mood for a Bayside album. The score is maybe a touch high (even if I still like the record), but the ending of that review still feels right to me:
At least we already heard 66% of the EP. Does seem weird to have a 2 month long rollout for 1 additional song.
like i said this is how bands have to sustain themselves after losing income for nearly two years. financially it makes more sense to do stuff like this since the recording budget for three songs probably isnt much and the hype will allow them to keep touring (i wonder how the thrice tour sold, i didnt get to make it to any dates so idk) which is how theyre able to.....live. eventually im sure within a year or two they'll get back to making full lengths, but im not surprised seeing bands like bayside and jimmy eat world downsize on their output and focus on one offs or little EPs and touring
I don't listen to Cult and Vacancy very often anymore but when I do, I remember how many great songs are on both records. Also, Vacancy has a ton of amazing lyrics.
