Chris and Nick have been teasing on IG over the last few months here and there about being in the studio working on ‘something’.
Well that but also what would the timeline be? If it’s a song a week for ten weeks then that’s fine because that’s a normal album rollout basically. If it’s a song a month or longer then I’m not a fan of that.
They’re still on Hopeless yeah? This is the normal rollout then. A single and then weeks of no other info lol
Aside from “Medication”, Interrobang was an excellent record and def my favorite since Killing Time. Cannot wait to hear what’s next!
Hopeless has been doing awful rollouts, releasing over half the album as singles and doing like 6 months rollouts makes no sense
Rollout for Interrobang was great. Think we got Prayers out of the blue, then after the next single wasn't the album coming like 3 weeks later?
Yeah, Anthony straight up admitted in an interview around that time that they're a band that isn't going to attract new fans/garner a big radio hit during an album rollout so what is the point of making fans wait when everyone's attention span is so short. He said he had to beg the label to agree to his rollout request. I agree with his stance, but that said, it was their worst debut on the charts (#109) since their self-titled so my guess is the label isn't letting him do that again, haha.
Weird memory: when the first Interrobang single dropped, I remember Anthony replying to someone on twitter who asked "will there be a full-length?" with "just enjoy the moment jesus christ" or something ha.
Interrobang is my second favorite record of their's (behind Killing Time.) Hoping they carry that momentum, but I'm sure it'll be great regardless.
I hate this whole concept of releasing never ending singles. Give me a body of work to dive into! That being said, I love Bayside. Seeing them with Thrice in June. Can’t wait for a new record, however they decide to release it.
Stoked for new bayside. Probably not gonna listen to every single but definitely the first 2 or 3 depending on the rollout plan.
The singles thing might be an attempt to game Spotify. I'm dropping an album next month and they only let you submit one song at a time to playlists. So you submit one single, then once that one has been released, you are able to submit the next one, etc.
That’s definitely the formula for a long roll out I just hate that we have resorted to having to do that and I’m assuming most people 25+ are accustomed to albums whereas the younger demo are accustom to singles
their last album only had a 1 month rollout, which is very much antithetical to hopeless records releases.
Why not do a short roll out of a couple months and then release the singles after the album comes out to try and get the playlist attention? Does Spotify not allow singles if the song is already in a full album? If it's true that "no one listens to albums anymore" why can't it just be done in reverse? The zoomers won't even notice.
Is it bad that I don't like Thrice? I find them so uninteresting. I'm going to the Co-Headliner in June, but I'm kind of bummed that it appears Thrice seems to be headlining my date (although I'm guessing they play the same time). I just want to see 90 minutes of Bayside by themselves.
On this site? I would say yes. Just kidding everyone has their personal favorites so don't feel bad about it, and who knows maybe Thrice can convince you with their live performance as well.
