Bayside have shared a newly recorded version of “Devotion and Desire.”

In celebration of their 25th anniversary, esteemed punk band Bayside has re-recorded their quintessential track “Devotion And Desire” – out now via Hopeless Records and streaming here: https://ffm.to/devotionanddesire2025. “Devotion And Desire” quickly became a fan favorite following its release in 2005, and has since closed out nearly every Bayside show.

Fans can look forward to seeing Bayside live this year on the 25 Years Of Bayside: The Errors Tour. Consisting of three legs throughout 2025, the tour kicks off tomorrow, March 29th, in Buffalo, and wraps on September 26th with a hometown show in Huntington, NY. Supporting them on the road will be Sincere Engineer (leg 1), Smoking Popes (leg 2), and The Sleeping (leg 3).

Featuring two nights in each city, fans will have the opportunity to see the band perform two different sets highlighting songs from across Bayside’s extensive catalogue. Night one will include songs from Sirens and Condolences, Self-Titled, The Walking Wounded, and Shudder, while night two will feature songs from Killing Time, Cult, Vacancy, Interrobang, and the band’s most recent release There Are Worse Things Than Being Alive.

Tickets for all shows, including VIP packages are available now at bayside.shofetti.com. Options for VIP packages include a 7” of the newly recorded “Devotion And Desire” (2025), as well as the opportunity to sit in during soundcheck, a meet and greet with the band, side stage seating during the set, and more.

For the past 25 years, Queens-based Bayside has represented a lifestyle, a counterculture, and a deeply-held commitment to integrity and earnestness. At their core, Bayside is a band that has constantly proven that music is not about gimmicks and ephemeral trends, but a timeless reflection of our life and our times. It is through this authentic expression and creative spirit that the band has amassed a cult-following that lives and breathes everything the band creates.

It’s a spirit that permeates an impressive and storied discography, including Sirens and Condolences(2004), Self-Titled (2005), The Walking Wounded (2007) and Shudder (2008). Covering the “Victory Records Years,” Bayside grew their reputation as road warriors with their impressive amount of touring. From basements to clubs to Warped Tour, the band led melodious sing-alongs everywhere they went, with fans flocking to Anthony Raneri’s personal, yet universal lyrics and story-telling. Fan favorites like “Devotion And Desire” and “Duality” continue to be staples in the band’s live show.

While the band held strong to their punk roots, what set them apart from their peers was their musicianship. Diverse in thought and background, but united in a shared desire for authentic expression and immense musical talent, Bayside continues to push the boundaries of what a Bayside song could be. In the second half of their legendary career, covering the “Wind-Up and Hopeless Records Years,” Bayside embraced the heavier and grittier side of themselves, while keeping the anthemic choruses of the earlier years. With Killing Time (2011), Cult (2014), Vacancy (2016), Interrobang (2019), and There Are Worse Things Than Being Alive (2024), the band focused on creating songs that are relevant to people who want substance, rather than being relegated to one genre. In 2023, the band even collaborated with Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills on their rock anthem, “How To Ruin Everything (Patience)” - their first song charting at SiriusXM Octane.

Having toured the world multiple times over, sold thousands of albums, and amassed millions of streams, Bayside has achieved a lot in their storied career. And while many bands would coast on their past success, Bayside has always rejected that premise and continues to prove time and again that the best is yet to come.

I have to say I prefer the original recording, but this is pretty cool nevertheless, since re-recordings tend to be hit or miss for me. For instance, I didn’t enjoy what Senses Fail did with From the Depths of Dreams, but the older Silverstein songs on their Redux album are great

I like that they haven't veered too much from the original and that it basically showcases their evolution as musicians and recording artists.

I definitely wouldn't mind them doing something similar to Silverstein's Redux albums.

I agree, but that's because Buddy sounds terrible now compared to then haha. It sounds so compressed as well.

Bayside is obviously one of my favorite bands and I guess this is cool but I can’t think of a time any band has done something like this and it was actually preferable. The only time I find it somewhat appealing is if a band re-records a professionally produced version of a song from a demo thats bad quality for their first album, otherwise just leave the original recordings as is.

I always appreciate a re-recorded song or album, but they rarely stick. Good calls on both Silverstein and Thrice recently doing it and it working out pretty well though. I really liked the Silverstein redux albums.

As a newer (past 10-12 years) Bayside fan, I don’t have any emotional attachment to the original version, and I think this new version is great.

Yeah, I don’t think most people think its bad, it’s just unnecessary.

I assume bands do this to take ownership essentially of their back catalog and get paid for streams. However, its probably 90 percent bayside fans who would listen to this, and they would probably stream a new song more so, not hating but just the type of thing I’ll check out but not come back to.

I do like reworks or acoustic versions sometimes because they bring something different. While yes technically this is different too, its more just if Bayside made the song in 2025 vs 2005.

Yeah I wonder if they’ve just wished for a while that it sounded better, or it’s more to take control of their back catalog.

As a more casual Bayside fan, I really enjoyed the re-recording. Some of the earlier songs don't sound the best imo.

If they do anymore I would LOVE if they gave Talking of Michelangelo another go. That is by far my favorite Bayside song B-)
