crazy that this is their 8th album. they sound so fresh / almost rejuvenated and lively on this. great album to kick off the day with. gonna be spinning this a lot.
This is the first Bayside record I've ever noticed the bass guitar on and I like it a lot! Super cool to have Bayside songs be actually about stuff again (i.e. medication and walk it off)
Goddamn... this really might be their best record. The only song I felt whatever about was “Trouble”. Everything else is solid fucking gold. How did this happen? Where did this come from? The band sounds completely reinvigorated and I love it. I’m so glad I pulled the trigger on preordering the vinyl last week.
This is their best record since Killing Time, by a lot. Need to let it settle in before I can compare it to their other stuff but after the first listen I'm very high on it.
One thing to admire about this record is the production. The production on the first 4 Bayside records ain't the best at times but this sounds top-notch. Everyone just sounds better here. I already love this record so much.
I've talked about this a lot with @CoffeeEyes17, but Bayside is a band that continues to make "a Bayside album" with every new record and yet somehow I never get tired of it or care that they aren't radically changing their sound at all. They do their sound pretty damn well and I'm fine with them continuing to do that sound well. Interrobang is an example of them doing that sound better than they have in a while. Very happy with it.
Anthony in interviews always used to explain their song structure as "punkrock showtunes". With all the influences they drew from for this album, it appears they abandoned that structure for the better. It still sounds uniquely Bayside, with a few new elements added in. First full listen...it's excellent. As people have been saying, its the best since Killing Time / The Walking Wounded.
You can totally tell these dudes were in a room just vibing off one another while writing this album. They compliment each other well on this.
I went from listening to the new Menzingers record this morning straight into the new Bayside record and the difference in the clarity on the vocals is wild. You can hear every single word Anthony sings easily. With that being said, both albums are fantastic.
Jack fucking SHREDS on this album. I've always thought he is/was the one of the most underrated guitarists, not just in the 'scene' but in all of music.
Bury Me, Interrobang, Prayers, Tall, and White Flag are my five early favorites here, but this album is strong as Hell front to back.
Most of the way through my first listen and I can safely say it's my favorite since Killing Time. Heck, it might even be better than KT too.
I can also appreciate Anthony doing new things with his vocals. Heaven - "Are you coming or not?" the way he lets it ring out...where was this before? Numb - they way he stretches out "feeling". It's a nice touch.
