Seeing this in IMAX on Thursday. Can't wait to see Diana tell the boys to stop fighting like children on the extra-big screen.

Apparently men are very offended by that line and the feminist agenda and are planning to boycott the movie

Just broke the Fandango advanced ticket sale record for a superhero film, topping The Dark Knight Rises and Age of Ultron. Crazy.

    HAHAHA Angry Internet Nerd Bingo.

That's what I've heard, just looking at headlines and whatnot. Haha I got Star Wars spoiled for me by jackasses in the comment sections of articles that had nothing to do with a spoilery article itself, so I'm being extra cautious with this one.

  11. Smart.

Yeah. With Star Wars it happened on an AP article I posted about the box office or something, and then I was also reading a random article about Xbox Live being down, and someone had posted the spoilers to The Force Awakens in the comments section of that article as well..

  13. I don't get some people. Like ... going out of their way to be assholes is weird.

Yeah, and I mean, an Xbox Live article... and someone just had to do that. Ridiculous. Don't understand it.

Have to decide if I want to wait for my brother and see it at midnight or just see it in the evening at 6 or something. Maybe both, though if it isn't good that'd be a rough 5+ hours out of my day.

The more I learn about Zack Snyder though, the less I want him involved with any Superman stories haha. He wants to adapt the Fountainhead, he said there was a double standard that people were upset at the destruction and death in Man of Steel and not the Force Awakens, the guy just does not have the mindset I want in my superheroes.

Think I might rewatch the first Burton Batman, the first two Donner Supermans, and Man of Steel over the next couple days. Even if it's not handled all that economically, Man of Steel does have some of the best looking superhero action in superhero movie history.

  16. Sad pathetic little men.

There's gonna be a lot of people very unhappy if this movie is good, hahaha, so prepare for that backlash!

  17. That's actually something I agree with. There has been a double standard within the little nerd communities I follow for how that kind of thing is called "disaster porn" when they don't like the actual movie but gets ignored when they do. So many of the recent Marvel movies have had it and in weirdly almost the same way (giant thing from above must be stopped) and full civilizations were murdered in Star Trek and TFA and they didn't have that hit over their head the same way MoS did.

I have a Facebook friend who's an obnoxious Marvel fanboy who swears any superhero movie that's not MCU will be terrible and that everything DC Comics does is shit. I also follow someone on IG who posts about this movie so much you would think he works for WB.

@ChaseTx I see that everywhere, all the Marvel/DC Fanboys have to be obnoxious about which one will be better(solely because they are a fan of said company). I don't understand why we can't just enjoy both for what they are individually.

  20. I still don't really get the competition/tribal angle that gets created with some of these fandoms.

Yeah, it's so annoying 'cause Marvel is clearly better, so no need to discuss, obviously.

My response to Snyder's stance is 1. I had a problem with TFA blowing up five or six planets and 2. There's a difference between planets blowing up in a sci-fi movie and tens of thousands of people dying in a Superman movie. I won't get too into the Force Awakens, but all those people dying in that movie bothered me because it wasn't intersected with the paths of the characters in a meaningful way, and the fallout of those deaths wasn't given the weight I think they deserved. And when it comes to Superman, he should be saving all those people, or a lot of them, or at least seem to care that people are dying. While I think the Avengers (and Star Trek and a lot of superhero movies) run into the same problems where way too many people are dying and buildings are being destroyed and cities are being obliterated, the Avengers makes it a point to show that part of the Avengers battle plan is to save and protect civilians. Man of Steel has long stretches where it ignores that, and it has a scene where Superman saves Lois Lane and, during a lull in battle, doesn't reflect on how an entire city has been leveled, but instead kisses her and makes a bad joke. Fuckin' Goyer.

I do agree that a lot of people have responded unfairly to Man of Steel vs. the Force Awakens or the Avengers, but that doesn't mean the criticism at Man of Steel is wrong. Superman ends on a tonally dissonant high emotional note. After Smallville and Metropolis are torn apart, there's no sense of what it will take to rebuild, no moment given to let the characters feel that their city is forever changed and many people they know are probably dead. Even though I think it should have handled it better, the Force Awakens did have a second of the characters feeling "Oh man, that's heavy". Even if it's handled in Batman v. Superman, Man of Steel should have maybe cut 10 minutes of action to both make the action less tedious and let the characters and audience feel the impact of what happened.

Haha there really will be a lot of backlash if it is.. So many people have already written it off right from the start, so I'm hoping it's amazing.

Imagine that IGN doesn't really like it. Then again an avg score there is way higher everywhere else.
