It's just rare that a movie that long justifies the length. Usually you can see where some things could of or should have been cut.

Oh, damn. Google's little blurb lists the 3 hour and 36 minutes that the director's cut would've ran as mentioned in the article Jason posted below... strange.

No way, I never win these kind of disputes. She thinks I'm right for once, and I'm going to conveniently forget this new development this evening and for all days to come.

ironically, I really want to see that director's cut now...

Once Upon a Time in America is 3 hours and 49 minutes at the end I just wanted it to keep going.

What a strange turn of events for you haha.

You were the chosen one! When you won that argument you won it for all of us. You were our hero - our dark knight.

Crazy how we can't watch a three hour movie but can marathon an entire season in 2 days.

I think I watched Daredevil S2 in 2 days 5+ episodes at a time with little to no breaks. I wonder what the thinking is behind that.

you make too much sense sir, please stop it.

  11. Easy, shows like that are more likely to end on a twist/cliffhanger every 40 minutes. More isolated incidents we want to see the conclusion to

It really is very strange. I've pondered this a lot, and I attribute it to a different level of investment being expected for a series versus film. I have more incentive to pay attention to a story when I know it has an undetermined amount of room to develop and grow. Plus, while many people do binge an entire season of a series over the course of a weekend or even a night, the end of an episode works as a save point of sorts if you have less time or attention to give. People in general are much less willing to pause a 3 hour movie to return to it later than they are to stop watching Parks & Rec after two episodes.

Not me, it takes me months to finish a season

I usually watch movies after 9pm and I go to bed at 12 on weeknights so I always put off longer movies because I don't want to spend the whole night on one thing, and I also tend to pause to check chorus or whatever during the movie (a bad habit for sure) so I probably wouldn't finish anyway

When bvs was still in production wasn't there a rumor that it was supposed to be a two-part movie?

I really enjoyed the Extended Ultimate Edition. Made so much more sense than the Theatrical Version. It would be nice if there was a list of differences between the two versions.

Also, the deleted scene entitled, "Communion" that I shared months ago - ended up being split up to a couple different scenes throughout the movie.

Holy hell had no clue that Martha Wayne was played by Lauren Cohan.

  18. Gonna watch the extended edition this weekend. Looking forward to it.

Haha yep. Both the Wayne parents played by current Walking Dead actors, neat lil fun fact.

I watched the Directors Cut yesterday. First time seeing the movie and I liked it. I watched it with somebody who has seen the theatrical cut and they told me the scenes that were changed and altered whilst watching, and it seems like a lot of stuff was changed for the better.

  20. Ya the extended cut connects some dots you previously had to connect yourself and explains some things you had to assume, so it's definitely more coherent. I already loved the theatrical cut, so this cut just made it even better. Recommended for people who had mixed feelings about the movie, but I don't think it's gonna sway anyone who fundamentally disliked most things about the theatrical version.

Didn't see this in theaters. Watched the Ultimate Edition over the weekend. Sounds like it had more cohesive editing than the theatrical. I liked it well enough. Don't see myself coming back to this often (mostly due to length), but all in all, I certainly enjoyed it more than Man of Steel. The Doomsday stuff was kinda silly and a bit much, but it got WW into the battle, which is all I wanted.

I wonder if, with video editing skills and the Ultimate Cut, I could make a version of the film I could like.

There's probably no edit that could undo how little I liked crazy Lex or Superman's premature death, but maybe I could get close enough to be willing to sit through the film again.

I am a staunch supporter of this Lex (and pretty indifferent to every other version I've seen)
