There's nothing particularly special or mindblowing about this album but I find myself drawn back to it while I'm reading or grading, so it has that going for it
Same (minus the grading part). I will always prefer a grungier Basement. The song Wish exemplifies my favorite style of theirs.
Guitar tones on this are nice. Nothing truly stuck out to me on first listen, but it's nice and different enough that I can see myself returning to it more than Promise Everything.
I do wish a song or two had been cut from this. New Coast and Just A Life feel like the two weakest tracks, and they come in right at the point where I want them to either throw me a curveball here or bring the record in for a landing. Last three songs are solid but by the time I get to them I’m sorta spent.
There's something a little extra at the end of this album on the vinyl, not sure if anyone else has got theirs yet. I think it would have worked nicely to change the pace near the middle of this album.
Thanks for the heads up, I started listening to my vinyl copy last night but was super tired so only spun side A. Can't wait to hear this hidden track now
Ok so I spun the second half of my vinyl copy and holy shit.... I want a whole record from them in that style, at one point all I could hear was like pre-American Idiot Green Day
No clue on anything tour wise but I'm really hoping they hit a couple stops in New England. I haven't had a chance to see these guys since they played upstairs at the Palladium a couple years back with Ovlov
I had a spell a couple of days ago where I just listened to "Be Here Now" for two hours straight. "Keepsake" is definitely favorite on this album and maybe of all of Basement. I will agree that it slightly drops off on the b side.
Given this about 10 listens. Think it’s my favorite of theirs all the way thru Didn’t expect so many hooks With all the JEW comparisons, I feel like I need to dig back in there because I’ve never been that much of a fan.
Personally kinda bummed about this. Was hoping for some headlining dates and not really trying to see them at a casino for $60 minimum on a 30 minute slot. Great opportunity for the band though for sure
