I’ve had this on in the background all week. Too much, hit it quit it, sober, and 17 onward are all fantastic. The rest of the album has catchy hooks and surprising moments. Definitely my favorite album front to back. Will be in rotation for a while.

EDIT: I have to add Baltimore, lie 95, and wants needs. And I’m sure lovers and buttercup will fall in.

Gonna have to give this more focused listens, my initial takeaway is that I like there are a lot of songs I like but they feel pretty buried by the production choices

I agree some songs the production or compression blows out the headphones. Some spots it is welcome. I just love the tempo changes. He’s great at going along in a song and then a left hook tunes you back in. And then I ask myself, what did I just hear and have to play the song again.

Anyone seen him on his current headlining tour? I just grabbed a $10 resale ticket to see him tonight in Chicago!

Honestly, I can't even say I've listened to the whole album.

Album definitely came and went pretty quickly. Unfortunately I feel like it didn't appeal to the fans of his first album nor the fans of his second album, whether those overlapped or not. Felt like a pretty tepid response from everyone

I remember liking it but don’t recall a single thing on it. Gonna listen again soon.

I’m still open to him releasing something else I like in the future but I really only like his first album and a few songs on the second. This new one did nothing for me

This show did not sell. Yikes.

I was just coming to say that. Less than 100 people here at an 800 capacity venue. Hopefully more people show up before he comes on. Still should be a good show but that’s a bummer.

I only saw Bartees once - in Cleveland in 2021 at a 500 cap venue and there were maybe, MAYBE 75 people there. And that was during the height of his popularity after Live Forever.

When Bartees first came out of nowhere with his Live at Studio Four session and Live Forever - I was immediately a huge fan. Then he released Weights, which I still absolutely love, and I was so excited for what his future held.

I remember seeing him live shortly after Weights and he played a bunch of new stuff (prior to Farm To Table) that would be for the new record and it was STELLAR. At this point, I was dying for his next album… and then Farm To Table came out with none of the songs I heard him play. It landed with a thud for me. I figured sophomore slump happens so fingers crossed for the next record?

Horror comes out and there’s maybe 3 songs I like off of it? Still nothing that stands shoulder to shoulder to Live Forever though and I’m worried that nothing he makes going forward will for me either. Just feels like he’s lost something he had with that first record? Idk

It’s a big bummer how indifferent I’ve become to his music when I was such a big fan four years ago ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That really surprises me he didn’t fill Thalia

Damn that's a bummer. He was the first opener on that insane boygenius/clairo/dijon tour two summers ago and was phenomenal outside on a big stage, you would hope a club show would be packed for him. That said, this was easily the album of his that did the least for me - I think Farm to Table, while not perfect, is pretty underrated.
