sooooo that was a fucking show and a half huh. opening with Stone Meadows like it's NOTHING.

whole new album bar the interlude, three debut album tracks and two covers. incredible setlist - no Flagey God but I'd much rather a show heavy on the new shit. (Live at Studio 4 exists anyway.) goddamn.

 

Didn’t realize he was barely playing anything from the debut. Glad I caught him in that era

 

Same. I like the new album and I know he’s touring that album but I like when artists do a solid mix especially when they only have a couple albums out.

 

could be different for the US run. I got last night's setlist actually, will post in a bit!

 

the aforementioned set. crowd was super into him - basically skipped the planned encore break since there was so much love in the room, then got 30sec of sustained applause after Far. not to mention the two covers went off!

got a full video of Hold the Line too, will post that when I can.

 

It sucks to say because I love the first album but I haven’t come back to this since the first week.

 

Yeah I only really care about the first three songs, which is a huge bummer

i still like this but the sequencing really brings it down so much

 

I’ve listened to it a bunch. While I definitely prefer Live Forever there’s still some fantastic stuff on this. Hennessy is getting overlooked especially I feel. Love the production on that track in particular.

 

yeah those first 3 songs need sprinkled throughout the album. The first half and second half feel like 2 separate albums.

 

Kinda funny how this thread the last few days is just talking about not loving the album, then today it's the #1 album in chorus.fm's best of the year so far list haha

This is an easily fixable thing if you’re able to let go of following the sequencing it was “meant” to be in. What sequencing would like better?

 

Anything that doesn’t bunch all the slow songs together in one block

 

I hate to say it but I’m skipping his show here next month. If it’s mostly new stuff I’m good.

 

Same. I really don’t want to be super negative about this record because there are some really high highs but some of the slow songs just shouldn’t have made the cut imo.

I still haven't bought tickets to the CLE show, but I plan on going. New album is still pretty good for me and I saw him live last year and he was incredible.

 

Heard “Wretched” in a bar just now. Very cool to see him blowing up a little with this, he deserves it so much.

 

Just listened to this album front to back today for the first time in a while.

Holds up.
