I just don’t see why a show that has literally had wacky shit going on all the time is suddenly being treated like everything that has happened to this point is as grounded in reality as people are currently suggesting.
I’m all for the whacky parts and comedic relief. It’s been perfect for the most part. The time jump just doesn’t feel as fluid, and it feels like a huge left turn that doesn’t fit when we were in the midst of some of the most anxiety-ridden and heart-wrenching moments of the final episodes.
Also not acknowledging that he’s wearing a different shirt too. Moss took the sack off Barry’s head and removed his glasses while changing him for bed. Very nice of him.
Sally said she felt safe with Barry and there was a very prominent scene of Barry imagining them having a family together so it's not that hard to think Sally would go along with that even though she clearly regrets it now 8 years later.
My favorite element of this being Barry trying to live out his family fantasy is the "ooh let's do this on the swing" when he's explaining his military career
says the guy with 27,000+ posts. People can acknowledge things they don’t like in a show they overall love. I’m happy you and a few others are not in the same boat and love all of it, but calling my opinion annoying in a thread meant to discuss the show is pretty rich.
i don't even really think "regrets" is the right word. she's clearly miserable but she wanted him there last week when we heard the knock on the door. he is still making her feel safe.
don’t hate because I basically get paid to post on chorus dot fm at my WFH job. I’m all for discussion on what does and doesn’t work I just don’t think you’ve laid out a good argument for why the time jump isn’t working for you personally.
I don't think someone that feeds their kid vodka to get them to stop crying is someone that is happy with the choices they've made in their life and maybe doesn't know what to do
So again, you don’t like my opinion on these last two episodes, got it. Whether you think it’s “good or not” adds what to the conversation on the show? Multiple people shared some negative feedback on these last two episodes and still say they like it. Calling people’s opinions annoying and telling them to go outside more because they saw something different than you is pretty petty and childish and makes people not want to discuss.
I honestly didn’t see Sally do anything to the intruder so I was confused and then even more confused when their house went up into the air. So the truck lifted the house up?
I think the intruder was a hallucination, the truck that rammed the house was the dude she choked last episode
That ending was interesting though. Barry definitely looked younger, Moss looked the same as he did 8 years ago. If it we didn’t see Hank and The Raven I would’ve assumed the time jump wasn’t real and something Barry imagined during Moss’s torture.
Just spitballing, but it could be another time jump backwards. Maybe Moss got hold of Barry before he fled with Sally and then let him go for some reason. Edit: eh, that doesn’t really work because then Barry’s face should be all messed up like it was before. I dunno.
Having listened to last week’s pod with Bill Hader, I can’t stop thinking about “Larry Chowder: The Magical Kid” being based on a friend’s story about an old lady asking for that when she meant “Harry Potter.”
Definitely more on board with the time jump after this latest episode. Thematically, this show has always been examining superficial changes vs real personal change. Barry thinks changing occupation from a hitman to an actor will mean he's a better person, etc, etc. The time jump is delving deeper into that idea. Eight years and a family clearly hasn't changed him. And we're examing that with other characters too. Fuches's changed his appearance and is finally "The Raven" guy he's always wanted to be. NoHo Hank is now the boss. But do these status changes don't equate to real change? I'm not convinced Gene's fully changed either. He's trying to cancel the movie for now, but I feel like that might just be part of a plan Moss cooked up to draw out Barry. Sally seems like the one character who is experiencing some self-realisation throughout the show.
Absolutely. I believe Hader said on the podcast that his concept for the time jump was “What if the characters got everything they wanted?”
