Potential spoilers??? what if Barry is killed off 2 episodes into the season. Bill Hader directed every single episode this season himself (which if he had less acting to do he'd have more time to do that) and stated in interviews that "the craziest stuff in true crime stories happens after the killer is caught or dies" Would be nuts if they do that, but I trust this show to make the right call even if its nuts
been rewatching the whole show in preparation for s4 it's absolutely wild that the shitbird/pie scene, Sally's one take monologue and Gene finding Janice's body all happens inside of one episode. might be the single best encapsulation of what this show can do in 30 minutes
Man, Barry is a fucking pathetic shell of himself, it's sad to see. Such a strong opener just showing how desperate for any form of approval he is with asking Gene if he's mad at him and really freaking out and latching onto when Sally said she felt safe with him. Doing my rewatch right before this, I still think the jump from S2 to S3 Barry is a little sudden with how much his mental state deteriorated, but seeing him like this is depressing. I genuinely have absolutely no clue where this will go, especially since it seems he's going to get out within an episode or two. Even the moments of levity in these episodes, like Gene performing a one-man show to the journalist or the whole Hank/Cristobal D&B scene had such a feeling of darkness over them. Really excited/nervous to see how this ends
Gene doing the one-man show was gold. Loved the reporter chugging skittles while writing and not even looking down. Gene soaking wet in sweat was too good.
not gonna lie i miss when this show was the perfect balance of humour and drama. these episodes were so fucking grim. still excited to see how it ends tho
These were so dark but then they throw in things like the sand comment and the entire D&B scenes and they're absolutely hysterical
the sand comment got a laugh out of me and so did "are these song titles?" but I was not laughing at anything otherwise. maybe wasn't in the right frame of mind for them, idk, but these episodes left me a little cold one thing I really liked was them bringing back that grinding noise from whatever Barry saw on the beach when he nearly died last season. that sound scares the absolute shit out of me so it really hit when it came back
