Maybe I'm just more oblivious and searching less for news about shows, but this is like the 3rd show lately where I've just been surprised by a release date and it's only a month out. I love the short wait. I will be sad to see this one end, but it seems logical with where season 3 ended. That could have been a satisfying conclusion on its own, so excited to see what we can get out of the story with one last ride. EDIT: Also there's a 1:10 trailer in the link above, it's not just an interview.
The quick turnaround is likely due to both seasons being written during COVID, if I recall correctly. But fucking STOCKED
Yea, Covid apparently shut down S3 shooting, so a lot of S3 was re-written along with S4 during that time to basically make it a mega season split in two (from that interview linked). I wonder if it'll still be short and sweet episodes or if with it heading to the end, it'll expand towards the usual 45-1hr drama length episodes. I doubt it as the pacing sets it apart from its peers, but you never know.
This is gonna sound dumb but what would you compare Succession to as a RIYL? I have yet to start but with Barry ending it’s high on the line of recs.
I watched season one of succession and thought it was fine. Ive not gone onto season 2 despite finishing season 1 nearly a year ago.
Sounds like it is/was intended to end after 3 seasons but a “who knows?” for potential spin-offs and/or future seasons, but it’ll kind of be a bummer if this was intended to be the end of the story but they keep it going just to keep it going.
I figured it would be the last season and I'm never disappointed when a show is ending if it's on the creator's own terms. Very very pleasantly surprised at how soon it's coming though!
