I said this to a friend earlier this week. While I don't want the show to end, I think it would have been a great series finale.
Absolutely killer finale (though, I had to mute the panther scene, the sounds of people being mauled/eaten alive gives me nightmares). Damn near perfect season. I have no idea where it goes from here, but I have full confidence in this show to crush it.
Fantastic season and the finale was probably my favourite episode of the show so far. Can't wait to see what they do next season.
This show just cemented itself at S tier with this season. Superb is a proper word I don’t use often that fits well right now. I fear the bar being set too high. How does it possibly get better than that? Felt like a funhouse train of comedy and horror coming to a screeching halt.
Just ran through all three seasons and man I remember when this show was funny /s What a dark finale, god damn
Emmy noms are out: https://variety.com/2022/tv/awards/emmys-nominations-list-2022-1235313788/amp/ I’m glad the show is nominated, but the fact that it’s for best comedy and Hader is nominated for best actor in a comedy is baffling. It’s like they only watched season one.
This last season of Barry was a billion times funnier than this last season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
I’d say it’s still firmly a dark comedy, with some drama. Outside of the finale this season was extremely funny
I'd definitely classify this show as a dark comedy with dramatic elements. Even the premise in and of itself is funny, and there are still multiple scenes in every episode that put laughs before anything else
Always saw it as an inverse of Breaking Bad. BB was a dark crime drama with heavy comedic elements, Barry is a dark crime comedy with heavy dramatic elements. Thin line genre wise for sure.
Watched Season 1 as it aired and loved it but then fell behind because of life. Just watched the whole show this weekend and Jesus fucking christ
