Pretty bad take, seasons 1 and 2 were perfect and this season cements it into "all time greatest series" strata
very bad take on s1 and s2 but I think their s3 take has... some merit lol. particularly the Sally arc feeling really rushed and kind of sloppy at times is something that's been bothering me too, it's been very strange like I think we at least needed to sit in the aftermath of her show being cancelled a little longer. would've been nice to see Katie too, her reaction to Joplin getting cancelled and losing her mentor instead of just disappearing from the season entirely. that's been bugging me a bit
I was on vacation so I finally got around to watching Sunday's episode. God, everything about this show is just so fucking good. Hader did such an amazing job just acting like he was dying, and that beach scene with everyone he's killed was so beautifully eerie. I actually thought the reveal of him in the gurney and the shot of Ryan's dad's fate was extremely powerful and genuinely caught me off guard. It's really cool how they set up all of these characters wanting revenge on Barry and then being mostly red herrings who fail to get revenge because they're "normal" people who don't have experience with this kind of shit, and then Chris's wife being the one who really made the move was a great twist. I'm sure Moss's father is being set up as a foil too but we'll see what happens with him in the finale Fuches continues to be one of the best TV villains in years. Root is just an amazing actor, I can't imagine it's easy to make a character so hatable that you just don't want to stop watching. Someone else already pointed it out but the scene where Albert thought he had him cornered but Fuches just immediately honed in on how to manipulate him and masterfully did so was so well done
my take is that i loved s1 and s2 and I like, but don't love, this season (in case anything was misunderstood as I think that's the common take on 1 and 2 and I agree so no bad take there I hope). Most (all) around here, think it's getting better and better, whereas I think it's taken a few steps backwards (but from a subjective view as it's more so the humor hasn't landed as much and the plot is just feeling a bit rushed). I am no way yelling that this is a bad show and ya'll are wrong, I'm just stating my feelings each episode. I do like Fuche's arc and at this point, it seems there's nothing that's going to stop him from pushing whatever he can at Barry but I think the arc of Moss's father is going to be interesting and if somehow with his experience he's going to help Barry? Also - where is Kate, will she be back? and how will Hank and Cristobal get tied back into Barry's world?
My insane take is that I don’t mind if Katie doesn’t return to the story at all lol. Not convinced Elsie Fisher was very good in this, but regardless of that would be satisfied with that storyline functioning solely as an effective, meaningful wake up call for Sally
