Lena Dunham deservedly gets a lot of scorn for her public persona and comments but she is talented. Girls was uneven but when it was good it was really good.

Finally saw this today and it was fantastic. I know I'm not exactly the target audience for a lot of the messaging of the movie but I still found it very effective, I went with my sister and my mom and I could hear both of them sniffling at the ending and at America's speech

It was also absolutely hilarious, Gosling really fucking delivered. He deserves an Oscar nom for that musical number at the end alone, holy shit I was dying at that entire sequence

This is probably the best big-budget mainstream movie since Mad Max: Fury Road.

I didn't buy a middle schooler making a Shining reference.

Pump the brakes. You think this film is better than Dune, Logan, Blade Runner 2049, Top Gun Maverick? Just to name a few big budget mainstream blockbusters.

Blade Runner 2 is bad. Dune and Top Gun 2 are good but this was better. I never saw the X-Men movie.

My biggest problem with it is probably the way they appropriate leftist ideas and directly quoting Marx but it still being ultimately in service of a capitalist product. I don't know yet how ethical that is.

It’s hard to criticize commodification cuz commodification can commodify that too

  13. By the way, since I've been listening to the vinyl nonstop for days, just wanted to mention Ryan's Push is unfortunately online/digital-deluxe version only

The Ken song is better than the Bowser song.

I mean, that’s a low bar. The Ken song is actually really good.

Gimme light, gimme love, gimme fire

This absolutely ripped. There’s something special about a sold out theater hooting and hollering at all the right times.

I was confused and didn't think I heard that correctly. Glad you mentioned it.

On another note, why was my theater so silent? I did not hear laughs. I have a feeling it was a younger crowd that I hate to use this phrase... didn't get it. I also laughed loudly by myself at the Snyder line. I bow down to Greta Gerwig and all the digs at male culture she threw in there.

You have to remember that they're Morrissey. Whether real or fake, there's a standard they have to live up to. I think they do a good job.
