I obviously fully support the actor's strike but it's a shame we won't get any more insane Gosling quotes from the press run anymore
Here we go! Edit: And Metacritic has deleted it. Though it's now sitting at 93% on Rotten Tomatoes through 41 reviews.
more or less a total blast. once it shows barbie reaching the "real world", it gives you what you want and often tries to go above and beyond in ways that land nearly every time. very intelligently written, you'd be shocked if you hadn't seen mattel agree to make fun of themselves in (for instance) the toy story sequels. i think there were a handful of jokes that admittedly thudded, and the somewhere the middle of the movie drags a bit, but that's all i got. there's also a major left turn towards the end that i think was done seamlessly. people are gonna LOVE this one, more than they might've even thought
is there any reason kids shouldn't see this or is it PG-13 mainly for innuendo jokes that would go over their head and some language?
I feel like I fairly often give tweets for Drew to post. Haha he follows me on twitter and I often see a tweet that I just retweeted popping up on here. Maybe it’s a coincidence. But I’d like to think I am helping haha
It’s a conspiracy! The A/C isn’t working on the Barbie theaters here. The 7pm Oppenheimer, I am told, will have A/C. The theater doesn’t want us to see Barbie! They don’t want the truth getting out. Or, maybe, the record breaking heat messed up their A/C. Can’t imagine what inspired what I said above.
I don't plan to see this, but out of curiosity I read the storyline on Wiki, and my impression is that this might be way more brilliant than I thought a Barbie movie could be.
This was fine. I found the second half to be much stronger. Robbie and Gosling were both great. The comedy was hit or miss for me. The Snydercut joke made me laugh out loud though. I was the only one in the theater to do so.
Really loved this and looking forward to tying it into my unit for The Giver when I'm back at school.
It’s certainly not a Barbie movie for kids. It’s truly aimed at the women who grew up with them and are adults now though. I think most kids would be pretty bored with the second half. Or maybe a childless 36 yr old man is not the best source for a thought on that aspect.
