Agreed — that sequence put me more on edge than probably anything since... idk, Hereditary? My hands were covering my mouth and I don’t think I blinked for like 10 minutes lol
It somehow got worse on my second viewing (I guess because I was anticipating it for the people I was with) and I became more aware of how fast my heart was beating than I have in a long time haha
So this is now the second year, where a major studio releases a bat shit original horror movie in September. Last year was Warner Bros w/ Malignant, this year 20th Century w/ Barbarian. I hope this is a trend that continues.
This was really fun. Was worried they were setting Justin Long up for a rapist redemption arc and then immediately nah, dudes a piece of shit. love that a bunch of Wrecked cast members were doing voice cameos. Also if you still haven’t watched Wrecked go watch it immediately
Also if you want to read about the real life case that (I assume) inspired this, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritzl_case (it's very fucked up) Once I saw the tunnels under the house I kind of assumed that's where this was going
This is fucking BONKERS. I’m so glad I saw it in a packed theater. There was a big moment that I connected the dots on before my crowd did and audibly, involuntarily said “Oh NO” out loud and got looks…and then 40 seconds later err’body was squirming. What a blast
I convinced a friend who shies away from watching horror movies to go see this with me. We had a blast. And she loved Malignant last year. So now she trusts me and I get to pick one horror a week in October for us to watch! Haha.
man that ending took alot out of my enjoyment. the last 30 minutes or so completely lost me. i know i'm in the minority
This was awesome and I loved it and we need more horror movies where landlords are murdered violently.
Man this fucked me up in a way a horror movie hasn’t in a while. Knew literally nothing going in. Totally thought they were pulling a complete Psycho midway through. Also absolutely agree that this will probably bring out the most annoying people complaining about XYZ plot holes, like who gives a shit lol
Though the man meticulously stalking and planning to kidnap a random woman - and also the fact that he did it repeatedly - is straight out of The Collector imo.
Tess surviving that fall and how she was positioned with the Mother was goofy as hell to me and definitely took me out of it. More than any “plot hole.” Still loved it overall though.
