Just saw this in a packed theater. What a ride!! Reminds me a lot of a mix between Evil Dead II & Malignant.
have to wait until Tuesday to see this but damn y’all are getting me hyped lol. haven’t seen anything but the poster for this so I’m excited
Ok, this was NOT what I expected. Maybe I missed this, and it's not a spoiler but how was the person she interviewed with aware of what was happening in the rental house.
I don't think she was aware of what was going in the house specifically, but more concerned about the area where the airbnb was. I think they refer to that area as Brightwood or something? Pretty sure that is what she is referring to. Just using tags in case but this is not really a spoiler of any kind, but i'd still rather be safe than sorry.
100% this. I think it gave the impression that all of Brightwood was to be avoided, not just a particular area. I wonder how much of that area was dressed up and how much was disrepair.
EDIT: I think they filmed a lot of this in Bulgaria. similar to "Don't Breathe," with a few days in Detroit.
I think they just did themselves dirty by having the bum (who btw shouldn't just yell "hey little girl! come here!" while sprinting if he is trying to save someone) tell Tess that there is something "much worst" down there but then just have it be an old man who shoots himself when he walks in? I thought it was about to take another crazy turn but then it never did. I get the POINT (they made it very clear) but in this situation I would be much more concerned about the cave monster who is smashing peoples head's open than a fucked up but now completely bed ridden old man. I know I should also suspend my disbelief but no WAY that man dug all those tunnels himself lol. I guess I was just hoping for more of an occult/ritual thing based on how everyone was acting. Just a little let down. The whole first act was brilliant and very very tense so it's still a win in my book.
That old man was WAY worse. He was a serial killer that preyed on and killed so many women. He also created the Mother.
Probably not even important, but how were Tess and Keith both able to book the place without AJ or the property management having any record of it? Also can’t really imagine how (or why) AJ bought the place to begin with…
right I got that. But in this situation the castle freak esque beast women whose ripping people's arms off is a much worst threat to your life than an old man who shoots himself when you walk in lol
Well I honestly don’t know how I felt about this because a group of 10-15 kids wouldn’t shut the fuck up. They kept yelling loudly, laughing constantly and just talked the entire time. Me and several other people told them to shut the fuck up and they wouldn’t.
fuck those idiots. hope you were able to let someone who works there know. sorry that it obviously tainted your viewing
Fucking incredible. love how truly committed this movie is to subverting your expectations at literally every possible turn
I hate that shit so much. That’s why I’ll never see another Paranormal Activity movie in the theater. Worst crowds ever.
