preorders went up early via Walmart. got mine locked in. edit: damn, it's sold out now. i'm sure they still have some copies on reserve for the official preorder tomorrow, but i didn't wanna risk it, since this is supposedly ultra-limited.

most big box retailers (there's an inactive Amazon link out there), but also indie retailers like Movies Unlimited, which i only avoided because they occasionally cancel preorders if they don't have stock. it's only "sold out" via Walmart currently, and that's because their preorders went up early. i'm assuming that was just the first wave of their stock, and more will go up tomorrow. it's a limited run, per what other retailers have been told, but it should be easy to order from most big box stores. MSRP is $44.99. correct, although GRUV only really does Warner, Universal, Shout, and a few others (i think Arrow made their Stranger Things set available through them?). i don't think Disney would be included with GRUV unless they worked out a special deal.
preorders would ideally start at midnight Pacific time (based on when they put up preorders for that first wave of Disney+ steelbooks a few years back). i'd try to lock in something now if able, so Movies Unlimited might be a decent option if they truly have the stock. use code MU10 for 10% off
correct! hopefully they don't upcharge you there though. i will say that while this is a limited release, it's also getting released overseas in Europe as well, so i'm sure if you stay adamant about putting in a preorder, you'll be able to get one.
oh geez, it was $55, and i added a book preorder to hit the free shipping minimum. fuuuuck. i am being so irresponsible with my money these past 24hrs. Walmart's page is still saying it's sold out so. hopefully i secured my copy. B&N are usually good with preorders but they did fuck me over once with one of the two Alchemy Index vinyl and i had to track it down and get it elsewhere.
i changed my mind/canceled/ordered from Amazon instead. B&N Stamps wasn't a good enough reason to pay that much more
I know it's a 4k steelbook, but $45 for a movie is fucking craaaaazy lol. I just can't bring myself to do it. Maybe if it wasn't streaming. I remember being 14 and saving up like $30 for a season of The Simpsons on DVD lol
it's even worse considering that overseas, Disney continues to offer a cheaper standard release in addition to a steelbook, but limits it to steelbooks in the US. you might have luck getting the UK standard release from Zavvi US (it's $35 before S&H), but with shipping, that comes out to be slightly less than buying the steelbook from a big box retailer. if you don't mind waiting, maybe see if they decrease their price between now and August (most Disney releases do go down in price shortly before release, but idk if that US steelbook will still be around by the time price decreases happen).
for the standard Blu-ray disc, possibly, but the vast majority of 4K discs are region-free. the back of the UK packaging seems to indicate the discs being region-free, so i'd say it's guaranteed for the UHD disc. but i'm not 100% positive that that standard Blu-ray would be region-free and instead be locked to B. i don't remember if you can do 4K playback, but if you can, that one might be a good option if you don't mind the possibility of the standard Blu-ray disc possibly being region locked. edit: doing some digging on other UK releases Disney has done recently on standard Blu-ray, and it looks like many of them are region-free, so maybe there's a good chance the discs in the standard UK version of Barbarian play back fine!
