Yessss I still listen to “waiting through the afternoon” very often. I saw them once, I think opening for JamisonParker and Motion City Soundtrack, if I remember right.

 

that makes sense with MCS, i believe they were both from the Minneapolis area, thats sick though i never got to see them live! i found them later on

 

Found it! 2005 tour. Motion City Soundtrack, JamisonParker, Dropping Daylight, and This Is Me Smiling.

 

stacked! i saw MCS at warped for the first time that year. didn't know of that tour but at that time i was only aware of MCS. 2002-2006 were SO many stacked line ups, we took em all for granted

 

I posted about them a few pages back. Their second album under the new name "Kidnap Kings" was pretty good as well even if it wasn't as great.

 

they changed their name? no wonder! i thought they were always a one and done album band. kidnap kings isnt a good band name though, i wonder why they changed? maybe member changes or something, i remember reading two of the members were brothers.

 

I don't remember why they changed their names actually. I know in the first song on the second album they say "kidnap kings and run off with their crowns"

 

Google is telling me this band went on to write the US version of the Code Lyoko album (under the name The Subdigitals)... which is wild

 

Haha yeah, I posted that and apparently they did an interview for it too! It's so crazy!

 

Dropping Daylight were a lot of fun. Back at the Atlanta Warped date back in 2005ish, the bass player talked to my group of friends a good bit when we were wandering around the merch area and pretty much sold us on checking them out later that day

He described their music as "Ben Folds meets Breaking Benjamin" - this is a 100% true story.

 

Basically all the Bens.

 

I think that band is worth checking out. You don't see a violin in a band to often.

I found their last album to be very weird. Interesting, but weird.

 

I forget if their spinoff band was good or not, Siren Sisters?

 

Close. Sirens Sister. I actually forgot about that, but now that I'm remembering them, I think their work was pretty much in the same vein.

 

I've been wanting to go back through their discography recently actually, I should pull the trigger soon

 

Wait, I'm not sure I knew they went back to Vendetta and put out an album in 2018. Did I know this??
