They've been doing shows here and there, so I dunno if I'd say they've faded away, but it would be nice to see them become a full-fledged presence again. I'd like to see Fightstar return.
Love these guys so much. Their last two or three albums were pretty great too. Hours and Casually Dressed are still top tier. I've grown to enjoy Tales Don't Tell Themselves in the last year or two, was not a fan when it came out.
Speaking of FFAF, it reminds me The Blackout just announced a reunion show at Download Festival 2023. I was supposed to see both of them, with the latter supporting the former, back in 2011 but they cancelled hours prior and it still bums me to this day. Knowing that both are now back gives me hope that I'll be able to see them one day... even if it will likely involve a trip abroad.
Oh man, favorite bands that faded away? I remember in the Purevolume days discovering some amazing bands that never truly popped off but whom I still listen to to this day: Race The Sun If you're from Richmond, VA and were coming up in the early/mid-2000s like I was, these guys were/are gods. The Track Record Fairway Rosematter Fool Me Once, Strike One. Fool Me Twice, Strike Three Over It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXcfTfk-Tns The Lifestyle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcdJJM8TZDg Finding Westerly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2a9J3C2c_Yg Conditions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvSuRA6HDec Not exactly the same category as the others because they made the cover of Alternative Press at one point, but these guys were/are royalty in the Richmond community
Unreal how little love Over It really get. Timing is Everything is tremendous and some great tracks on the following albums. Waiting has 75k listens on Spotify, nothing over 500k.
Unsure if this fits, but as a kid first getting into 'scene' music around 2004, I would spend hours just to download a few songs from Bearshare or Limewire. One random song that popped up, and I downloaded just to see what it was like, was by a band called Shindig. Anyone remember Shindig? I thought this song was really great. And for some reason just the other day I remembered it, and I found the band on Spotify. I listened to their first two albums and if that song I'd loved (whose name I can't remember) was on them well I no longer recognise it sadly. And honestly overall the music was not for me, at least not anymore. But for a brief moment in my early teens I really loved this one random Shindig song. And the band faded from my memory until now, almost 20 years later. Long live Shindig.
Stuck Forever came on shuffle and I've been listening to them for the last half hour, had to see if anyone had posted about them here good band
i am just checking pentimento out for the first time and this seems very much like my bag. what album should i start with?
I, No Longer and the Inside The Sea EP Self-titled album is good too obviously but I've listened to I, No Longer waaaaaay more
kind of confused how this band didn't blow up to be the biggest thing on the planet. this record is amazing.
right?! it's crazy. they put out that album and then ended up being the live band for Reggie and the Full Effect... so random, and a total missed opportunity to just become the biggest band ever.
They're opening for Saves the Day in a couple of days if you want to make a last minute trip haha Saves the Day
not sure if i mentioned this yet or not. minus.driver or [minus.driver] (frankly, i'm not sure. they are hard to find info about.) They used to go by just Minus but had to change their name after I had already lost tough with them. Great album was Structure of Simplicity (2001). I'm going to give A Message For You (2003) a listen one of these days.
Have an update here, kinda a good news bad news situation Good news: I figured it out! Got into my ancient last.fm account and scrolled until the band name jumped off the page at me: But the bad news is that it doesn’t appear to be streaming anywhere. If anyone finds a digital copy out in the ether you’ll be my best friend for like a month haha
