Big fan of the English punk band Brawlers. Always thought they could have blown up, they had such a catchy sound. Looks like these days their lead singer left the music scene for the culinary world.
Anyone remember this early 2000’s pop-punk/emo/post-hardcore band? Some great melodies and guitarwork. Sound falls somewhere in between Hidden in Plain View and Saosin. Their other album was pretty good too, heavier and more moody.
So They Say were great! I found the follow-up at a thrift music store for 1 € earlier this year... which was so unexpected. I wish there was a way to listen to the EP they made when they briefly reformed as a duo around 2011/2012. They never put it out on streaming services and googling it brings no result. Pretty much lost media at this point.
I always thought Sound the Alarm should've been bigger. Listened to Stay Inside a few months ago and thought it held up well.
I didn't know about that reunion or the EP! Maybe one day it'll show up on the internet again. I really loved Antidote for Irony and Life in Surveillance when I was an angsty teen. Relistening to the full Antidote album now and they REALLY had an ear for atmosphere and hooks. Also the guitar is pretty sick throughout. I honestly almost get a TREOS vibe at times.
Did some digging into their Facebook page and they posted this back in 2013 Looks like they played one final show in 2019 too.
And... when digging too much comes back to bite my ass, I stumbled upon the singer's IG feed which has him going in full boomer Qanon mode... like really unhinged. Welp
Yeah I found this Spotify link to the album but all songs are grayed for me... edit: Seems to be available on Music Amazon Fernweh de Other Mountains en Amazon Music Unlimited
I loved that sound the alarm record but every 8 months I think about how sound the alarm, sparks the rescue, and signal the escape all had more or less the same name. All good bands tho. Especially the latter.
A coworker was wearing an Adept shirt and the late 00s flashbacks I suddenly got... I hadn't seen that name in a long time! If that sounds familiar to someone else, they were a swedish post-hardcore band that garnered some hype on myspace (at least from an European POV), and pretty much sounded like Underoath, Alesana, A Skylit Drive, Silverstein and many others in that scene, with all the tropes you'd expect during that era. I mainly remember them from ap.net or metalcore/post-hardcore groups on lastfm, back when the latter was more community based. I'm revisiting their debut and it really is most 2009 thing ever. Never heard the follow-ups so they're next.
