I remember listening to 504 Plan on MP3.com or PureVolume back in the day. Mannnn, I'd love to go through your old hard drive haha. And @popdisaster00
so many! i wish i still had all the bands music that i discovered through there... do you still have a ton?
I do have a ton of those old albums and mp3s, it's still on a hard drive stored somewhere, pretty often I can forget what's even there, but I remember I was obsessed about getting into all of those purevolume hits etc. - one downside of it is that I used to have a stupid policy of renaming all my files so they would only include lowercase letters ehh.
I have a blogspot site where I uploaded all my old music from hard drives from the late 90s/early 2000s days. If you guys ever go through your hard drives and want to upload it all, I’d be stoked to add all that super rare stuff to the site, if you were down to share. I’m sure you guys have a ton of stuff I don’t have.
They're back, apparently. I think they've only released one new single since they reformed, but last I saw there is more to come.
Cool site, I'll definitely want to explore that with some more time on my hands! Whenever I find that drive and compare if there's something good you don't have I'll remember to get it passed ;D though it seems you've got a lot of ground covered!
That's a shame to hear, I was a huge fan of their music in the 10's. I just recently was going through their catalog again (which holds up fantastically well) and discovered his new stage name Lael. I havent seen them mentioned much on this site and figured I'd share. It's definitely worth a listen! Lael - Open Waters
An example of a now obscure band I discovered on either Purevolume or Myspace and is luckily still on streaming platforms. I'm almost sure they had a music video for one of these songs back then, but it seems to be nowhere to be found. Nevermind it's on Vimeo
Just got reminded of another band I miss, Eve 6. Shame they faded away after Code, and never made anything else afterward. Just never did anything. And anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
So as promised. I don't feel up to rummaging around on Youtube for whatever scraps are there, but here's Spotify links to their first (and in some cases, only) major label albums.
Not sure if anyone from the UK here would remember, but there was a post-hardcore band called Violet that were around for a few years in the early 2010s. Kinda like Dance Gavin Dance or A Lot Like Birds but less technical and experimental. Honestly I thought they were great, but they broke up a few years in. If you haven't listened to them before, I'd recommend starting with their 'Perspectives' EP which got them quite a lot of traction here at the time. They then went on to release their one and only full-length after having a change in their clean singer. It's also worth checking out, especially if you enjoy the above EP. They did one EP after that called 'Colours' which isn't on streaming platforms, and then called it a day. Also, annoyingly Spotify has all of their stuff lumped into one Violet along with what looks like 3 or 4 different artists/bands also called Violet.
The singer from Full Devil Jacket got saved and started a Christian band called Day of Fire. A friend of mine became really close with the guitarist in that band and we would hang out with them whenever they were in town. Super nice guys...we eventually all lost touch but I saw Josh re-formed Full Devil Jacket a few years ago
Yeah, I loved Day Of Fire too and was actually low-key mad they broke up so he could rejoin Full Devil. Not sure if they're still a band though, they've been quiet for a while now.
