I'm revisiting Evaline's sole full-length, and I don't know if that makes any sense but there's something so... UK alt rock-ish about their particular sound and the singer's singing style. It makes me think this band sadly popped up at the wrong time and place. I love how huge their songs sound, I mean in an alternate timeline I could envision a big festival crowd bopping to Hours' chorus among others.
Evalines EP is seriously my favorite EP of all time. It means soooo much to me. The full length is amazing but doesn’t quite touch their earlier stuff for me…wild they never got bigger
I remember there being a long gap between the EP and the album, so I haven't revisited the former in more than a decade. I should change that.
I remember when I first saw these guys they were supporting Finch during their first reunion. RIP Finch.
Yep, I am aware of that release, thanks. I just don’t get the impression they’re continuing on or anything after that. IP had such a unique sound with the release of Wolves and then all of their momentum was snuffed out. Shame.
I do! I wish: * Our Long Road Home would be put on Spotify. * Their Besides box set would be put on Spotify. * That they'd finally finish that new album they keep promising. Not necessarily in that order.
Still holding out hope for another Finch reunion soon. It would've probably already happened if it wasn't for the pandemic.
Just came across two pretty big blasts from the past. Dave Melillo released an album last week under the moniker Dark Handsome: Dark Handsome - Athens • chorus.fm Also John Balicanta (singer of Lola Ray) released an EP. Outside of a couple one-off songs it looks like the first music he's released since the band's last album in 2006! John Balicanta - Where the River the Ends • chorus.fm
Unwritten Law, Mest, Every Avenue, Hellogoodbye, The Higher, Mark Rose are the only ones I'd be interested in
On my drives to work I've been rummaging through all the post-grunge nu-metal bands that fell apart in the 00s. Names like Full Devil Jacket, Pulse Ultra, From Zero, Liquid Gang, Stereomud, Speak No Evil, and Systematic. I miss those days.
i haven't heard of a single one haha. but when i hear "nu metal" and "00s", i think of limp bizkit, powerman 5000, and stuff from that realm, which i assume the stuff you mentioned is not similar to. youtube link to each band's best song?
Remember Right Now is one of my all time favorites, but I never cared for the rest of their catalogue.
Absolutely get it! Though I love all of their records, it's been a long time since I heard their debut material (I think they were supposed to upload it online soon as well). I think Stop Doing Bad Things is actually my favorite! But RRN is a perfect pop punk album, no skips. Really liked most of Mark's solo output too, back in the day it was some refined stuff for me as for his guitar sound and playing.
Same here, I was only missing the split with Don't Worry About It, but I got so fucking lazy because of the streaming, it's a hard way for me to get to my older mp3s etc. Ps. Also thinking of those old files I reminded myself of another band, which I think was from Chicago too, 504 Plan ;d oh, and Knockout, all of them had some ties to Spitalfield and Fall Out Boy (I'm pretty sure).
