I was in the grocery store earlier and they were playing Capital Cities. What ever happened to them? I used to love them a lot.
Whatever happened to Dropping Daylight? I like their Brace Yourself album quite a bit. I just randomly remembered them.
I used to have tons of random bands on an old and now non-functional hard drive, the kind of stuff I'd find on ap.net, myspace or purevolume back in the day. I've been thinking about one in particular for a while except I'm not even sure of their name. Looking that up didn't bring anything... which is a somewhat similar experience for all those bands who popped up and disappeared before streaming services really took off. It's like they never existed, sadly. Anyway, does a post-hardcore band named "Madison" ring a bell to anyone? I only remember some vague stuff from them, such as having one or two EPs then a full-length from 2005 that was actually shelved and never got properly released. It did leak though, and I think it was the last thing we heard from them. Style wise, I think they fit in with that whole Underoath / Senses Fail / A Static Lullaby / Silverstein crowd but might have not relied on screams that much as those.
That band name does sound familiar actually. Mannnnn I wish someone would make some sort of blog or something of all that early 2000s stuff that would pop up on purevolume and mp3.com, etc.
Anyone remember this band/song from 2008 ish? I was sooo into this song back then, and also their cover of "Accident Prone" by Jawbreaker. EDIT: Here's the Jawbreaker cover
Those dudes were also in Thirteen over Eight (First time seeing this thread. Were they already mentioned?)
Is this them? Madison (band) - Wikipedia Looks like the EP mentioned in the article is also on streaming.
Oh wow yes! I'm going to check that EP if it's available in my country's Spotify. And yeah, hearing from that Wiki that they reunited in 2010 is actually making me connect the dots. My lastfm shows plays from that year, so their short-lived reunion is probably how I got into the band. Maybe someone from ap.net did share that unreleased full-length back then. Some of the song titles from the latter... didn't age well fff
I remember them being good friends with the Drive Thru people, yet were never signed to Drive Thru. Then they finally signed a deal with the Rushmore spin-off label and that almost immediately folded.
I listened to the interview today with Matt from Emanuel and it was definitely a good listen. It was great to hear from him and that he's doing well (he's been MIO for over a decade at least?). I threw on Soundtrack to a Headrush straight after whilst I worked out and I still love that album. I remember feeling so alienated when Black Earth Tiger came out so I completely agree with Matt's comment about the lack of a transition album being a mistake. It was also dope to hear that Matt is open to a reunion. I'd love another album from them. I've always felt that they had such a different sound compared to other bands from the era.
I know this has been talked about, but Soundtrack sounds so fucking good…especially in comparison to a lot of other albums from 05. The guitars and bass are just unbelievable.
