dont think I’ve ever heard this band/album before but I remember those damn stickers all too well. Great marketing ploy! I bought a lot of pure shit because record labels plastered those (and other similar) stickers on so much back then lol
Lmao, big true. It was also how I discovered Northstar, which is great, but also how I fell victim to a few nameless Victory bands
Don't Look Down and Autopilot Off were always twin bands to me, filled the same space as well as each other
Eye Alaska are so great, I still keep up with the lead singer's solo stuff but it's so inconsistent release-wise and quality-wise
I know they've been brought up in here before, but Innerpartysystem had a really good mix of electronic elements without going super cheesy and chasing trends
I spent years promoting the Roy English material, which has now all been disappeared from the web. The only listings on the internet appear to be mine from the UTG days. I've been thinking about dropping an unofficial listing for the Canary Dynasty Mixtape on discography.fm at some point. Maybe soon if ya'll are interested?
Yeah I'm interested, I have what I think is everything he commercially released in my iTunes still. From Canary Dynasty I have As We Grow Older, Chance, Gray, Pieces of Your Heart, Stained Glass Heart, Untamed and Western Woods Freestyle
Here's a thread I did a few years ago about my cataloging of Roy's career. I've got a bunch of material from his pre-Eye Alaska days too (Dead Letter Diaries). Do you have "I Am Drugs?" It's literally the only song of his I'm missing.
damn, can't help you there. But looking at your tracklist for the mixtape, I didn't remember it was from other artists as well. I do have 13 of the 15 songs listed on that mixtape.
Been going down an early 2010s emo revival/emo adjacent rabbit hole lately. I feel like these bands never got a fair shake:
Canary Dynasty was a collective which included VerbS, Cody B Ware, and even Bad Rabbits for a time. I'll get the mixtape up soon (along with some bonus takes I saved from Roy).
Thanks for pushing me to finish the project. It's been on the backburner for a few years. Good to have it out there. I'll follow up with a set of Roy's live studio performances surrounding the EP.
