Yeah, I think they landed at "good" at the bottom of that Cliff though, as their last album and EP are still nice, but the top of the cliff was "great" and they fell off that for sure
I was on holiday travelling across America in 2009 (I'm from the UK so the holiday was a big deal for me) We were in Gainesville for the night and having a few drinks in different bars - Randomly walked down the road and The Almost were playing a show at The Venue (I was a massive Underoath fan at the time so I was understandably shocked and chuffed at the same time) This Providence were the support that night - I'd never heard of them before but they were excellent - Need to give them a further listen
I loved each This Providence album actually, even with the pop tunes, but the debut was so solid with double vocals and cool bass runs etc. (whatever I do remember from it now, I guess I should revisit it again), however I'd agree - the second album was the best and just purely sounded like Gatsby's American Dream most of the time.
I was just listening to Terminal and Alive in Wild Paint last month after maaany years! Makes me think of bands like The Working Title, Dear and the Headlights, As Tall As Lions, some of my favorites around 2007 probably.
I forgot about Dear And The Headlights. I saw them at Warped Tour whatever year they played. 2008 or 2009 I think.
I still listen to those two Dear and the Headlights records all the time (but especially in the fall).
I was listening to Pass The Flask at work today! It's wild how long that album feels, in a good way though
Anyone remember Kids Icarus? The one EP they put out was a banger. Really wish they would've done more.
That would be so good to see them live, to be honest I don't really remember how they performed and how did it all look like, but I really love their records! Also if some of you guys would like to check it out, there was a new band from the guys from D&TH called The Gentle Hits. It was quite good too!
Was reminded of this record earlier. Can’t find it on streaming services, but YouTube has the whole record. I remember buying this CD in a Best Buy in 2005 because it has a “for fans of Thursday, Thrice, and Taking Back Sunday” sticker on it. Anybody else remember this?
This album was/is so damn good. Another band around that time I loved was Ambry - Their album Holding On By The Blindfolds We Hide Behind also came out in 2005.
