Was obsessed with this record once upon a time. Seemed they had a lot of momentum, it’s a shame they never followed up on those demos afterward. There’s definitely a world where they squeeze out a few more records and see some years of success when bands like Four Year Strong and All Time Low were starting to blow up.
I actually got into a chat with Aaron from Kaddisfly a month or two back and he told me they're not done as a band, still want to put out music, its just logistically challenging with living in different places/different domestic and work situations.
Same! I was gutted when I found out yesterday as I would have so donated. Yeah Kickstarter totally would have been a good option around then for them to generate funds. Funeral For A Friend for example did it well and it gave them a much needed boost after a few years of decline in popularity. Also sucks they’ve only played a handful of shows since reuniting in 08/09. They should have reached out to bands they used to tour with like Story Of The Year or The Used to see if they could join them on a tour again. Weird you mentioned AP.net as Brendon put out a post asking where they first heard about them and a few people said AP.net and linked to it. I completely agree with that and it’s something I miss from this scene.
Bleed the dream was the 1st band I heard at my 1st warped tour in 2005. I remember stumbling into the amphitheater and they were finishing up. I never got super into them, but the energy of their set was addictive and I fell in love with warped tour at that moment. Hard to put into words, but going to warped for the 1st time as a 14 year old was something else
I thought Yesterday’s Rising was going to be a huge band in the scene. The EP was so strong, and Lightworker was better than most of the scremo scene (I’m lazy and can’t think of a better description) albums at the time. Also, the vocalist for YR was amazingly talented. I saw them live a few times and his voice was so booming he could have sang without a mic and you’d still have heard him.
Anyone remember the Shout Out Louds? I bet I haven't listened to this album in 10 years, but Spotify randomly recommended it and holds up really well.
I actually saw Halifax and Emanuel open for From First to Last in 2005. I thought both of those openers were going to be huge but it never happened. Not sure if I ever listened to Halifax’s debut
Gonna dive into this thread and start listening to all these bands. Always great to find music from years ago that I totally missed out on in the moment.
A Writers Reference was so good. Saw them play Bamboozle Left under the guise of "Party 'Till She's Perfect" But looking them up on google... it may have been a Men, Women, & Children side act? I can't find anything about them, but I just know it was one of them. This is the same guy, as I think I recall, when I met him walking around that day... making me think it's Halifax more than MWC. And has June been talked about in here? Miss them, too.
I saw them open for Copeland in 2010, they were really good. I think the singer and the keyboardist were married (?) and separated at some point around 2014, based on what I could gather.
SUCH a fun album. “Sell Your Money”, “Celebración!”, and “At Night I Like to Fight” are bangers extraordinaire.
Love the Deas Vail self titled. Don’t think I’ve listened to anything else by them. One of those, “I like this album so much I worry it can’t be topped so not gonna see what else they did” kind of things (weird, I know)
