Bands you loved that faded away • Page 45

I really loved The American Scene. "Safe for Now" is one of my favorite albums. I've been looking forward to the new music ever since the guys announced that they'll be releasing something new. It's a bit slower that The American Scene, but I still dig it.

 

No new album in almost a decade. Based on the two EPs released since then they could make a comeback if they want.

 

This is a good thread. I've only gotten like 2 pages deep so far, but this will help to re-interest me in finding new music. Back in the AP.net days I would listen to about 40-80 new albums each year. The last 5 years or so I have not gotten a single new album. Subscribing so I can get back in the music game (shame all these bands are gone now though).

 

Does anyone remember Brighten?

 

I absolutely loved Brighten. They put out an album in 2017 I still jam.

 

Yeah it's pretty cool they've retained such a similar (but updated) sound for so long. I just remember not seeing any social media for them that ever gets updated regularly so that album caught me totally off guard....keep wondering if they're gonna randomly drop something again (I hope so!).

They keep teasing new music and posting randomly though, I even saw them live last year for a random one off but no new music since 2013 makes me sad.

 

wow! totally forgot about them, gonna revisit their stuff now. Good one.

 

Didn't Brighten put out a mainly acoustic album a few years back? I especially loved that one.

 

The band Longwave always embodied this for me, but I just found out they are actually releasing an album in like two weeks!!!

 

The Jealous Sound... Blair is constantly starting and ending projects. The Jealous Sound is still my favorite though. I think they officially announced their hiatus a couple months ago or so, but I miss them... Blair is a treasure.

 

They put out an acoustic album just last year!

 

I saw them open for The Front Bottoms in 2012 or 2013 in Akron.

Any fans of Barcelona? I looked them up and was surprised to see that they have remained active this whole time, but Lesser Things came up on shuffle the other day and I haven't listened to them in years. FANTASTIC fall album

 

The singer actually has a very successful solo career now

Sparks the Rescue randomly came on the other day and I was gonna say them, but it looks like they've been sporadically active recently. Anyways, I've always really like this song by them:

Mashlin was cool and I loved their previous band, Agent Felix. Right in the late 90's pop punk pocket:

My fave was/is "Trying To Be Cool".

 

Brings me back to the mp3.com days.
