just reading through this thead. Fair to Midland Far-Less Exotic Animal Petting Zoo Annuals Brazil Men Women and Children I was into all these bands at 1 time or another. also I love Kindo (formerly The Reign of Kindo), but did/do like This Day and Age. And I'm super excited for the new Ours album.
Play Radio Play turned into the much shittier Analog Rebellion. He also turned out to be a real asshole who went bonkers on AP.net and got banned at least once... aka Banalog Rebellion
Listening to this "Too Young To Fail" series from Dave Mellilo, and damn...the people at Drive-Thru are a bunch of assholes.
This was a guilty pleasure for me even when I was in high school, but any of y’all remember Skye Sweetnam? I remember first hearing her doing the theme song for this show... Then I ended up buying her album and really enjoying it. Though the lyrics were pretty shallow, she felt like a slightly punkier Avril Lavigne on most tracks, while also showing some other nice pop star shades on others. I think she only made one other albums, which is a bummer since I think she really had the potential to become a really strong pop artist. It also doesn’t hurt that her best song was the basis for one of my favorite AMVs...
skye sweetnam was my jam when i was a kid, did you ever catch the song she did with tim armstrong? always wished she kept with it!
Both Skye Sweetnam and her band Sumo Cyco are awesome. Fans of Billy Talent, System Of A Down, No Doubt or Marmozets should check the latter out. Her best solo song is Real Life. I wish there was a HQ version out there.
Anybody here remember A Common Year? Their debut album Between Cities was free on bandcamp and was really solid in addition to the following EP. I think a few members used to post on AP also? They've released a few tracks that never made it onto an ep/album over the past few years but have otherwise been inactive. I always thought they had potential to blow up a bit but I'm usually off the mark with these things.
How Long is such a good album that still holds up. I think the guy went on to do a solo thing that I didn't enjoy nearly as much :(
Grand Archives - they released two sets of demos in 2010 for an album that was supposed to be coming out and then dissppeared. Honestly, the songs from those demos are incredible. I listen to them a lot. Wild Light - I wouldn't say I loved these guys, but I remember liking their 2009 album Adult Nights a lot but then they dropped off the face of the planet as far as I can tell .
