I used to know a jerk who was obsessed with them and thought they were the coolest "local" band - we are not from Dallas, we're about two hours away. Anyway, that's all I ever knew about them. Edit: not to be rude, just that his being a jerk discouraged me from ever looking into them, plus I don't think they're really my style anyway.
I probably posted this before, but I really wish The Sophomore Attempt got bigger from their album ‘Hallways’
Edison Glass Until June Consider The Thief This Day & Age Search The City Page France Burden of a Day Dry The River Freelance Whales Hands Golden Youth Kye Kye Nevertheless Secret & Whisper Tides of Man States any of these ring a bell? Plenty of bigger names in there
Oh man, Page France! I used to have them on last.fm in high school! They were pretty good. Liked their song "Northern Town." Some of the others sound familiar, but not as clearly. I could swear I know Until June from somewhere. This Day & Age was pretty big, right? Nevertheless and Kye Kye... I actually have Fantasize. Edison Glass used to be big on PureVolume, I remember.
I found Page France and Edison Glass in a contemporary Christian music magazine of all places lol. I think there was another band called ElisaRay or something from there too... Kye Kye is still a solid one, perfect band to lull me to sleep.
Consider the Thief, long disbanded. A couple Burden of a Day members started this: Tides of Man is still around, just touring a shit load. Kye Kye is posting intermittently on Instagram. Fuck knows what they're actually doing, but they haven't totally vanished at the very least. Secret and Whisper I'm pretty sure has gotten back together and is recording right now if their Facebook is anything to go by.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but what happened to Xerxes, they were signed to No Sleep and their last album Collision Blonde was amazing.
Matchbook Romance and Forgive Durden were mentioned but definitely agree. Also, Danger Radio. And does anyone remember Dave Melillo?
I will cop to really enjoying those two "mixtapes" that Melillo released a few years back. Still revisit those from time to time.
I've never heard anyone mention Select Start lol are you from florida?! they were THE local band, I never missed a show, and I still jam to them hard
Anyone remember The Pilot? It was Rob Freeman's (Hidden In Plain View) solo project. I loved the few songs he put out and have a couple in my iTunes but would love the rest if anyone has them.
I'm not sure if this counts, but there was a band called Black Rain that I found on Purevolume back in the day that was like, a UK indie acoustic thing. They had a cover of "Boats and Birds" by Gregory and the Hawk that I actually preferred over the original. I don't have it anymore and the last time I did a google search on them, it seemed like they'd been wiped from the internet.
