Exactly, I need to get back to these EPs, I remember they had some amazing songs, and maybe now after a few years I would understand some of this music more.
First name that comes to my mind is Farewell. Isn't This Supposed To Be Fun!? was one of my favorite pop punk records back in high school, and I was a fan of Run It Up The Flagpole too. I remember reading on AP.net back in 2011 or 2012 that they were about to write a new record, but I honestly don't know what happened then.
That was the song that got me into them. Really loved the two albums they released. I actually think they released their sophomore record twice - first independently, then with a label a couple years later.
This is true. The independent release was the first CD I ever bought online and had shipped to my house because it wasn't in any music stores haha. I ended up buying Disguises when it came out as well because there were a few new songs and the old ones were rerecorded. I thought their growth from the first album to the second was enormous. There were a few good jams on that first album, but after hearing the second I rarely ever went back to it.
The early 00's was an interesting time for music in UK. Magazines like Rocksound and Kerrang! used to hype up young UK bands like Hundred Reasons, Million Dead, Yourcodenameis:milo, Reuben, InMe, Hell Is for Heroes, etc. as the next big thing. Very few of these bands actually "made it" as such, namely Biffy Clyro and Funeral for a Friend (although Million Dead were the really best of the bunch). In the case of Hundred Reasons they released a promising debut, Ideas Above Our Station. However they spent the remainder of the career trying to live up to their promise and failing. Media would gradually become disinterested to the point where the band were forgotten about. Even Ideas Above Our Station doesn't hold up particularly well after 14 years.
Totally agree. It was a just a unique and really well done rock album. I remember not liking some of the re-recordings when that came out, but I guess that's just because you form a connection to the first iteration of a song, especially when the time gap between the two versions where so long.
Just popped in to mention a few bands off the top of my head. Matchbook Romance Dear and the Headlight Moneen Fear Before The March Of Flames The New Frontiers
Finch's first album was soooo good. Saw them live with The Used in 02. Never liked anything they released after Burn. Terrible Things was a great album.
Not necessarily "what happened" but fun fact: their bassist Buddy is on the TLC show 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' now
How Color Revolt never caught on is beyond me. They had great songs, a Brand New cosign and it all fell apart
I can see this. I feel like the band imploding after Plunder came out (which, yes, should have been bigger) had a lot to do with that. I love The Cradle, but it can be weird as hell, haha.
the Hospitals and the Goslings broke my heart just fading into nothing there's supposedly a new Hospitals album ready to be released but I just don't believe it any more also CSTVT and Brightside
Funeral Diner (None of the other bands the members have been in touched what they did in that band - especially "The Underdark" is a fantastic album) Seam Christie Front Drive I must also say that I wholeheartedly agree with those who have already mentioned Vendetta Red
VERSA. This interview was a year ago and there's been no news whatsoever since. dredg. I know Chuckles wasn't very good or well-received, but Catch Without Arms and El Cielo were fantastic and there were some great songs on Pariah. I just miss their sound. This tweet is a bit hmmm? though: Waiting on Crime in Stereo's comeback...thankfully they've said something recently:
