It’s always found its way peppered throughout my musical journey since 05. It’s absolutely within my top 10 of all time.
The album kicks ass for sure, but has some lyrics that have not aged well. But also, we need Name Taken back and I'm still torn up about Days Away playing a handful of shows last year but then going back to being a backing band for Anthony
Voices is one of the most underrated albums in the scene full stop. Absolutely insane how good it is and that people just wanted Stories And Alibis Pt 2.
Just through it on in the car for its annual spin and man, what a good album! I definitely under appreciated how many good bands there were from this era that didn’t last long. Would pay good money for a reunion tour. I do wonder how the singer would cope vocal wise as a lot of the songs feel like they’d be brutal to pull off with age.
If you haven’t already heard it, I’d highly recommend listening to Matt Breen’s “This Was the Scene” podcast episode. It’s really cool to hear him talk about the band.
Their former bassist was on the Sean Vs. Wild podcast back in 2017 as well (episodes 36 and 37). I don't remember which ones had wild stories on the road but I recall thinking the 00s were quite a singular time for up and coming rock bands, in a "you can't make this stuff up" way.
Thanks for the recommendation but I did listen to it when it came out a few years back! It was good to get some additional insight into their time as a band and ultimate break up. Really sounded like Matt was up for a reunion. I'm a little surprised they haven't done the When We Were Young festival at least. Haven't listened to either of these so thanks for the recommendation!
Everyone’s coming out of the woodwork these last few years ha. Love to see it. Nice cover from the speakers but need to give a real listen headphones wise.
I loved everything they released but I could not get into whatever their vocalist released after the band ended
Rereading their history, looks like Atlantic had dropped them before the album was even released. They bought the masters and released it independently.
Pretty sure Atlantic did eventually release their second album. And it's massive. Really wish they had the opportunity to capitalize on it.
You're right, looks like they didn't release it. I remember picking it up at a Sam Goody, so they must have had a distribution deal even though they self-released.
