Just noticed Kaddisfly's missing releases have been added to streaming services! Saw this on reddit as well.
Thanks so much for getting me into this (forgotten?) band! Listening to their sole album on YouTube and this is blowing my mind atm. Can't believe I never heard of them before as it ticks all the boxes for me with the blend of post-hardcore, post-punk, and space rock. Like a mix of These Arms Are Snakes and Cave In? Quite singular.
Yeah it never felt like they got a lot of traction at the time, for whatever reason. Most of the stuff I go back and listen to from this era doesn't hold up all that well with me beyond nostalgia, but I was surprised by how much I still enjoyed this one. Glad to hear you're into it as well!
I love Scatter The Ashes! I was working at Tower when it came out. I was working on the Monday before release, and was looking at the new releases that were going behind the register for the midnight sale. I grabbed a few things I wanted and was looking at the Scatter The Ashes cd. A coworker was talking to me for a bit and then a supervisor said "all employee purchases must be brought to the register right now" I forgot I was holding it when I ran to make my purchase. On the bus ride home I was looking at my stuff and realized I bought it. I think it's one of the best random things I have ever bought.
Matchbook Romance and now Sent By Ravens, everyone (except Emanuel? who else has never regrouped?) is truly back
i know they put the band on indefinite hiatus to focus on their own things, but every album and EP of theirs has changed me for the better (Absence is my all-time favorite album). new material is a need, not a want
I still listen to these guys somewhat regularly but man I loved them in late high school. Only got to see them once, on A Day To Remember's first What Separates Me From You tour, but they ruled. Had a lot of vocalist changes (after the original singer Shane left, they brought in Mikey Sawyer from Miss Fortune, and that went so poorly they kicked him out of the band when they were in Tulsa for a show since he lived in Oklahoma) buddy of mine actually tried out to join them after that but didn't make it lol
I still can't believe Sam Ryder went on to have the career that he has now. It's only in recent months that it clicked he was the singer on their final album.
Unfortunately never got into the stuff they did with Sam but yeah, that same buddy of mine sent me a video of his awhile back and I had no idea
If it's anything like the last stuff they put out, I'll pass. Their first 2 albums and their Downside stuff is still aome of my all time favorite music. Wasn't he in the Eurovision Song Contest a few years ago? That was super random
Two different friends brought that band up to me over the past few months so I've spun 61 Penn a bunch recently. Great stuff.
Listened to some Don’t Look Down today and did a little deep dive into their vocalist, Ryan Ogren. I can’t believe how much work he’s done as a producer. Had no idea!
Saw there was a remaster of 61 Penn a few years back. Need to check that one out now that I revisited the original
I knew he did a fair amount of production, add him to the list of scene heroes who have gone mainstream! I don't think he has done anything himself since DLD, right?
