3 singles last year but this seems to be a return to form and i hope it stays that way. apparently chris lent recorded / is playing drums instead of derek though which is odd.
Matt Manning is tagged in the instagram post so this new single is pretty much a reunion of the S/T line-up (with Chris Lent on drums instead of synths and without Derek this time), which is cool. I listened to a podcast with Matt Good last year and he made it seem like they were more of a collective than a full time band these days. Makes sense, even though I do wish an album was in the works. Acts who only put out singles here and there usually don't stay on my radar.
i can't stand singles only either but they're locked in as a band i'll keep up with forever. when they're on it, they're really fucking on it.
Blis. They did say a few years ago they would be making new music but it never happened unfortunately.
I miss so many bands from that scene. Unloco, Pressure 4-5. Still waiting for that new Union Underground album.
Yeah, that’s funny that they were just last year then because they were all pretty forgettable now that I’m thinking about it. I’ll definitely check out the new song though!
Also, I just remembered that I’m like 90% sure that I was on the same flight as Matt Good back in May going out to California from Arizona on a layover. He was with a young girl which I’m assuming was his daughter or maybe a niece or something so I didn’t bother to say anything. But I noticed him on the flight and then we ended up in the bathroom at the same time after the flight.
I recognize the album cover with that green bottle. I always see it in the clearance sections for a dollar at various record stores and disc replays
TIL they had a follow up. I remember the green bottle album and a pink album with the St. Louis arch on the cover , might’ve been an EP?
Wouldn't be surprised if a reunion of the final line-up happens soon. I remember Ella on IG saying she's been trying to make it happen for years and the group turns 20 next year so...
