Head Automatica for me, as well. Also... Terminal Secret & Whisper Ten After Two Dead Poetic ActionReaction
Buddy was on Ray Harkin's podcast yesterday and mentioned they're in the process of putting things together. Buddy is singing with Finch basically playing the music. Buddy said he has the freedom to sing about whatever so expect it to be somewhat political. He also announced his wife is having a kid!
So Nate's a part of this new band? Weird. What about Randy? He's been MIA from Finch stuff lately, right?
He used Finch as a collective term it could mean that or could mean that. Either way excited. They have at 5 songs they're feeling pretty good about.
Both of these albums shaped my musical taste tremendously back in the day. Was so happy to see Jason mention this band here. If you have never heard these albums PLEASE take a listen!
No, although they're another good choice for this thread. The band I'm thinking of released an album called Airless Alarm.
Brought it up in conversation recently - but what the hell happened to A Great Big Pile of Leaves? They were really active and then just disappeared. Hopefully they're making a new album.
Finch just updated the FB page and stated its Alex, Daniel and Pappas and of course Buddy. Nate's been doing some acoustic solo stuff recently, and Randy has been MIA since June of last year.
Chasing Victory and Life in Your Way (Did the whole "come back, but then disappear thing") are two big ones for me
Idiot Pilot Codeseven (It sounded like they were going to continue as a band, but after the Hopesfall reunions, they've been silent) Amusement Parks On Fire Roma 79 Bleed the Dream Of Machines Emanuel
I figured I would put together another ten list of bands because I felt like there was some bands missing that felt like I should have mentioned. 1) SR-71 is another band that confuses me. The were active from 1997 to 2007 (then reunited in 2009, but I don't know if they're still a band because they only re-releases one album (and I don't follow tours)). I think it should go without a saying for all bands I list in this thread (but I'll say it for this band in particular anyway) I wish they would get back together and release a something (whether it be an EP or an album). 2) Sugarcult is a band that has been on hiatus since 2009, and I don't know if they plan on getting back together anytime soon (when they announced the hiatus I thought it was supposed to be a short one (for like a year or two)). 3) The Donnas (hey something different in my list ;)) is another confusing band. They were working on an album back in 2012, but things have since gone quiet (in fact there hasn't been a show since 2012). 4) The Hippos is another band that has broken up (active between 1995 to 2002). They're an awesome band that mixes Ska (Punk) and Synthpop, and the results are excellent. 5) The Suicide Machines is band much like SR-71 when it comes to activity (active from 1991 to 2006, and reunited since 2009 to play shows here and there). This band is actually the reason why I wanted to makes this second list of ten bands I misss. 6) The Vandals is a band different from the rest of (both) my ten band(s) list(s) because they're still active touring wise, but recording wise...? The Vandals - Flowers Are Pretty (Lyrics) 7) Assorted Jelly Beans is a band I left off from the last list, but they also had the shortest run out of my (two) list(s) (1996 to 1999). Apparently they reunited back in 2008, but I haven't heard much (if anything) from them. Assorted Jelly Beans - Braindead 8) The Methadones is another band broken up (shame Dan Vapid put this band to rest). Unfortunately I don't have anything to say about them. The Methadones - Take A Look 9) Weston is another confusing band when it comes to activity. WESTON - Teenage Love Affair 10) Antifreeze (wikipedia deleted their page so I can't link) is another short run band. They are a great sounding band, unfortunately it is impossible to find their Self-Titled album. Antifreeze - 01 - Birthday Weekend The Self-Titled album in question (You can find it listed on their old website, but I can't find it anywhere)
We had a lot of great bands here in AZ at one point, but they all kind of either took off and flatlined or broke up. One of the most underrated ones I can think of is Drew Alexander, who was actually a solo artist. This is the only song of his I could find on the internet, but I still think he had a lot of potential! He signed to a major label in 2006 and literally disappeared. They scooped him up and did nothing with him, keeping him bound to a contract but not letting him move forward with his career. Still bums me out a bit.
Double post, but another AZ band I always thought had massive potential that unfortunately fizzled out was called GoodbyeTomorrow. Probably my favorite local band from back in the day. They put out a really great 4 song EP in 2004, and then released this and one other song sometime in 2005 (recorded with Mark Trombino). In 2006, the band signed to Equal Vision, and pretty much right after, their singer quit the band. The band replaced him with Travis Bryant, and they released a decent 3 song EP, followed by a bad name change (Alive In Wild Paint) and a boring as hell LP. Always wonder where their career would have gone if they had been able to keep their original singer... not to mention we might've gotten another Terminal album.
Just had another one pop into my head... fucking Ivory. Band was really something special, and they totally disappeared into thin air. Many incoming videos because this band brings me the feels
Dear and The Headlights were so incredible and underappreciated in my opinion. Drunk Like Bible Times was such a promising and great sophomore album.
