I’ve never listened to any of these bands but heard a little about all of them. Land of Talk Talk Talk Saves the Day Say Anything Broken Social Scene The Hold Steady
Deafheaven and Deaf Havana are two I see get confused a lot… and as a big fan of both bands it’s always funny to me because they’re so different.
Young the Giant and They Might Be Giants. My friend listens to both and I really hate one of them (YTG) but kind of fuck with the other but I almost always mix up their names. Grave and Obituary. I mess up sometimes because I have not done a deep dive on them and they are both one word old school death metal, I can tell which is which but I still mix their names up sometimes. I sometimes call Myrkur Ulver because before her folk album the only song I liked from her was called Ulvinde.
I'm sure this has been said but... Two Door Cinema Club Bombay Bicycle Club Tokyo Police Club Honestly, these three bands were interchangeable to me until I fell in love with the newest BBC album. Edit: Hold up, went through the thread and NOBODY else has confused these bands?
One that got me relatively recently is Ignite and Incite. Mostly because they both had albums in the works and I kept mixing up one for the other. Clearly very different sounds though.
I was going to type something up in defense of my post, but then I realized how insignificant a discussion about Static X and Powerman 5000 is. I never want to go down such a dark road again.
my old punk band opened for Powerman 5000 a few years ago. i thought it would be funny to get us on that show, and it worked out, haha. I brought my Tony Hawk 2 PS1 game for the singer to sign, but he was locked away in his own green room up until the moment they went on stage, and then he immediately went back in there after they played, so I didn't get to meet him haha.
Definitely a big one - thought about the ridiculous similarity in names plenty of times, but never actually confused them, prob cuz I'm stupid OCD with band names. Can't remember to fold laundry, but I sure can list off some 00s indie and alt bands and the albums they released. lol
Not sure how this is weird. The idea of the thread doesn't imply that one thinks the bands sound the same... which is neither here nor there. I simply confuse them with one another. This is the most random adventure hahah.
