I would like to introduce everyone to Band of Silver, an alternative rock band out of Nashville, Tennessee that has all the right tools working in their favor for sustained success in the music industry. The band, which is comprised of three siblings, worked under the direct tutelage of veteran producer Mike Green (Paramore, All Time Low) to helm the songs that would become Something Stronger. This frenetic mix of arena-ready anthems showcases the band’s ability to convey a wide range of emotions through their slick pop songs.

The EP sets off on the right foot with the title track that is a thrilling listen from start to finish. It features a steady beat that leads up to a crowd-pleasing chorus about wanting to feel alive in a world that seems to be staying more the same. “Living Ghost” is a song that has a similar feel to Panic! At the Disco’s Vices & Virtues record, with equally pleasing results. Singer Avery Silvernagel commands the track from the get-go and her impressive vocal range allows the song to its intended, lofty heights.

Other early standouts like “Chasing a Stranger” mix in more electronica elements to paint the picture of a band looking for their place in a crowded alternative scene. What Band of Silver does well on songs like this is by not over-complicating their approach to the songwriting by delivering the goods, and never overstaying their welcome. Some songs seem less realized, like the down-trodden “Machine” that bellows over the electronic mix before exiting before it really gets going.

Luckily Band of Silver has plenty of tricks up their collective sleeves with songs like “The Winning Team” that rocks similarly to One OK Rock, with its great awareness of building up to an anthemic chorus. “Maybe Next Time” reminded me a bit of what Metric was going for in the early stages of their career, while “Prim and Proper” closes out the EP by leaving just the right taste in the listeners’ mouths with its dripping synths and dancey beat.

Overall, there’s plenty to love and enjoy on Something Stronger. Band Of Silver will likely learn from their upcoming touring stint of the United States this fall about which of these songs translate better in a live setting and further improve their songwriting chops based on this crowd feedback. For now, there’s still a lot to be excited about with this young and promising new band.
