Or… he changes the dates to everything to “2022” and gaslights us into believing the festival happened last year and it was a hit
Kinda feel sorry for the person who posted that "emo festival" thing. She's being made to feel shitty for something she was apparently pretty excited about. I don't get it... But oooooof.
This guy John D must have really burned a lot of people to have such piss-poor relationships and lack of options in terms of booking talent. Also has apparently paid zero attention to the festival landscape of the past 10 years.
there are probably some very very interesting stories behind this falling apart like it has. Those teaser video’s basically said we have MCR, TBS, and Midtown and in reality they have none of those. They absolutely dropped fall out boy hints and it certainly looks like at one point they had Yellowcard. Then announcing Palisades “Last performance ever” for the band go “we didn’t agree to that” then dropped ten artists from the poster. It’s wild!
If you go to his personal instagram page and scroll back to his summer 2022 posts, he absolutely hints at Fall Out Boy being the headliner. He says something along the lines of "just finished the deal for one our headliners. An important act in the scene that has been been inactive for a while, but planning a major return in 2023. And Boozle got them first." Something to that effect. I think there's more to this disaster than just John D lying and swindling everyone. That FOB related post last summer, he constant assurances that the headliners are arena/stadium level, and the fact that we already know of 5 acts that have dropped off the lineup since the announcement.....something tells me that there's some sketchy shit going on with his promotion company and ALOT more artists we don't know about jumped ship back in Nov/Dec.
I just find it insane that all that shit he was talking and he hasn’t posted anything since the cancellations.
The FB post about the girl who got tickets for VDay and they can be “emo teens” again. Those comments, some of the things those people came up with!
Hilarious that Limp Bizkit is posting on all their socials today about being added to the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia, but haven't made a single mention of Bamboozle since being announced 3 months ago.
Totally agree. If Kevin Lyman said "I wanna do another warped fest thing", I guarantee he'd be able to put togethee a really great festival because even if booking is harder now because livenation has a monopoly on the concert circuit essentially, his relationships alone would be able to convince plenty of bands to do it as a favor. (He's done a few one offs since and those lineups were always amazing) You're telling me the guy who ran a festival for 8+ years didn't develop enough relationships to help him save a festival like this? It's bizarre.
I believe the buyer/agent running Adjacent for livenation was the second person behind John at bamboozle. He has some really deep roots and relationships in the punk, hardcore, indie scene and it’s my guess he was the one holding it together all those years.
tbh I'm not sure if Kevin Lyman would be able to put together a solid lineup in 2023, I mean the Warped brand was definitely damaged by the sexual abuse that either happened on the festival or had abusers on the lineup, which I think would be a road block for Lyman booking bands since that's something that is way more openly talked about now and something that is like a stain on Warped now (he could probably put together something better than Bamboozle though...which isn't saying much haha)
Those one-off Warped fests they did in 2019 had way better lineups than Bamboozle. I’m sure Lyman could easily pull something off is he decided to do another fest
Yeah Kevin Lyman could definitely pull some strings together for a killer lineup in 2023 and forward. I also heard a rumor he was involved with when we were young fest but not too sure if he is or isn’t
At this point I’m alright with this being the reaction from any ticket buyer at this point. They were insanely mislead, they won’t come forward to explain anything, they haven’t opened the marketplace to sell your tickets, and straight up lied to by the promoter.
Reading through that scamboozle instagram and I'm surprised to see a few people able to get their refunds. Also the official IG stating that no artists have dropped off is the ultimate gaslighting. The updated poster on their website has removed 5 large artists, as well as all those "???" placeholders now gone. We knew this was gonna be bad, but I don't think anyone was anticipating this level of trainwreck.
torn between wanting to see this cancelled and refunded for all and wanting it to actually go off and get all the live updates from attendees about how big of a disaster it is.
