I think the target is just to recreat warped tour and fill the void in fest form the hole warped tour left. I mean warped tour had a ton of stuff to do outside of music. It had a hand full of big acts of all genres that didn't really go together. With a majority being small acts to discover. Hell even one year it had an edm stage. The problem is this fest is 400 dollars and warped tour was only 50
Actually if I think about it, I feel that if Warped Tour was still going it would start to look like this besides maybe not Rick Ross or Steve Aoki.
I just listened to Kayzo's Last Resort remix. Not really my thing, but it got me thinking that Papa Roach would be an interesting addition to the lineup. Would cater to the Limp Bizkit crowd, plus even though they were rap metal their song Scars kinda brought them into that early aughts emo scene for a minute.
to be fair, GCW is the biggest indie company in wrestling and draws between 500-1000 people regularly. That being said they have wrestling weekends in AC quarterly so again Bamboozle is not a destination for people who are fans of the brand.
I have been a huge wrestling fan since I was a kid and I would never go to a music festival for it. Like these things are fun for 3 minutes while walking around but aren’t worth the effort or cost.
When I read that they would have backyard wrestling, I didnt knew there was a company behind it and neither that GCW was kind of a big deal for indie wrestling. The more you know!
You know this festival has really brought joy to my life since our whole fam got COVID for Christmas. Seeing these announcements daily brings a much needed laugh
Look, I don’t have much experience with bookings, but there are a lot of low cost scene acts they could’ve booked that would’ve made this more cohesive and appealing. Early November, The Dangerous Summer, The Color Fred, Real Friends, Stand Atlantic, Senses Fail, Bayside, LOLO, Maggie Lindemann, Poppy, Story of the Year, Plain White Ts, etc etc. These are all acts that are on the more affordable side, that fit the Emo/scene mold and would bundle well with the Bamboozle name and actually give this thing some form of identity. Instead I’m watching money get wasted on puppets, sound cloud artists and Steve Aoki. Again, nothing against these artists that have been announced, it’s just that this thing has no cohesion, it’s all over the place with no indication to who their target audience is
And fest. And the Warped 25 shows in 2019. And Riot Fest some years. You know, come to think of it, I’ve actually been to a lot of festivals with wrestling and not once have I watched it
Especially when pre Covid, the Danny wimmer fests had a deal with the freaking wwe to have NXT at all his fests and WWE was at rolling loud just last year.
