I really wonder how many tickets they'll sell today.. I can't even imagine dropping freaking $360 for this trash lineup. Like I wonder if this is "all time bad" level of ticket sales today. Imagine only a few thousand get sold? Lol
Honestly they probably would have sold more tickets by not announcing any bands at all, which a lot of festivals do with "early access tickets". The 1st phase was so underwhelming. Like you would expect at least one headliner (MCR, Fall Out Boy, ADTR, BMTH, etc) to be announced to bring in some traffic for tickets.. At the end of the day I'm hopeful the price will justify the lineup, but you cannot ask people to hand out $350 right now. That's just disingenuous
I hopped into the queue 1 minute before and it says first come first serve. There was 161 people in front of me. Not good for them. Edit: my friend just sent me this. You can't make this up
Just occurred to me tix went on sale on thee most competitive shopping day of the year? dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb
I just had a look... Do you seriously have to download an app to buy tickets? Everything about this is embarrassing...
From “if you think we’re not coming back strong you’re wrong” to “let’s make this first wave go viral” to “I know it was underwhelming, that’s all part of the plan”. What a shitshow. not to mention the doubling down on shit no one cares about like circus performers and tiktokers. or even further distancing themselves from the VERY POPULAR scene and emo festivals that probably 90% of people following Bamboozle were also interested in.
It was all part of the plan to release a shitty initial lineup? And at the same time that shitty lineup is supposed to “change the industry?” This guy is painful to listen to. I think when it’s all said and done this’ll be a fine lineup that’ll be a fun option for people in the tri state area. But the way this guy talks about it like it’s going to be the most revolutionary festival is so delusional.
Lmao sure, your plan was for people to hate the lineup reveal for your first festival in 11 years. Sure it was buddy.
I mean, it got people talking. But not in a good way. And really... Even the negative chatter didn't permit the usual online circles. So it was kind of a bust in every direction. Maybe the next wave of announcements will counterbalance some of this but... I don't know. This is just starting to feel sad to watch go down in real time. EDIT: It's also really sad and weird for them to further double down on how "different" they are, and acting like Bamboozle was always a festival that mashed up genres. They were just following trends! And they were commonly doing it a year or so behind Warped Tour, if memory serves... Them adding more hip-hop and pop acts, at the time, was what was "hot" in the "scene." It made logical sense. Then it kinda spiraled and the last two years felt like the festival had virtually no actual focus or aesthetic... So to pick up that ball and roll with it just feels really weird and definitely isn't why people loved that festival. It's also aggressively deflating the "nostalgia" factor that this sort of thing should be leaning directly into. Sidenote: The initial line-up reveal also shows no real sign of "moving forward" in a meaningful way except for at the very bottom of the poster, and I'm admittedly unfamiliar with any of those acts so I can't speak to how popular or not they are but... Maybe that's the key?
I feel like there’s no greater example of this than him shitting on Adjacent and WWWY… while simultaneously name dropping Iggy Azalea, Riff Raff, and Pauly D from Jersey Shore. That might be one of the least self-aware things anyone in the music industry (especially in this scene) can do
His most recent post now reads to me as the lineup won't be that crazy. But all the rides. Tik tok stars and wrestling will make it worth the 400 dollars lol
Really hope that all the investors for this are awful people and not former scene kids thinking this is going to be a huge success. Hate to see innocent people get duped. I’d love to know the number of tickets sold at this point. It can’t be more than a 1,000
I used to know some people who worked at Live Nation. Apparently, during Bamboozle 2012, John D was giving Michael Rapino, head of Live Nation, a ton of attitude to which Rapino (himself a big dick-head) was just like "fuckkkk you brah". Can't imagine working with John D is good.
So I love the tradition that comes with Bamboozle of seeing what a prick John D is, Bamboozle was always the time of year when the rest of the country got to see what a weird guy he was. I grew up in the Philly/Jersey scene and John D and also Tom Taylor (for those that remember him) were always the two promoters who were always doing weird shady shit. Got stories on both for days.
