yeah i absolutely do buy that there's a bunch of artists who cannot be announced right now for legal reasons, i don't necessarily know if Taking Back Sunday's (4) long island/NJ christmas shows would preclude bamboozle from announcing that theyre part of a festival in MAY, but i don't draft artist contracts, but alas as @domotime2 said, they didnt have to announce anything now. they (he) made the decision to jump out with an announcement now with a male dominated lineup. if inclusion and diversity was important, he would have waited until the announcement could have been more representative. we now just have to "trust him" that the lineup will eventually be more inclusive.
And we have to trust him that it will be *good*. They can say all they want that they have tons more bands and 9 headliners left who are bigger than all these artists. But with the same breath, they’re actually defending what they put out yesterday as being worthy of the initial batch of $300 tickets. If they lack that much self awareness and think these 25 acts are comparable in value to a day of When We Were Young or a full weekend at Riot Fest- then they could be just as delusional about their eventual full lineup being any good
Ah! I knew tickets were meant to go on-sale Friday, but I had missed the bit about a line-up coming before then. Mostly what I think I'm reacting to is the 2+ years of hot air from John D saying that they're looking to the future, have major reunions, 9 headliners, etc. this is what they lead with for an announcement. Very underwhelming. If they had kept their mouth shut, I would have the same perspective as you. I'm just being a curmudgeon, per usual. That said, I think you're right. The line-up has a chance at winding up pretty decent in the end. With the acts they have on here, I can see them pulling in some impressive (and viable) headliners that could balance it out. And similarly, with the "alumni" group there's so many different directions they could go. Like, I can see the perspective shifting if Post Malone headlines the day that Limp Bizkit plays. There's a chance Steve Aoki does some stuff on-stage with Taking Back Sunday. The "alumni" level of acts is missing some of the bigger names from that "scene" who might pop-up. And so on. So yeah, there's room to grow. Haha.
Exactly, his reputation coupled with this maniacal rollout after almost 2 YEARS of hype posting... you reap what you sow
I mean that says everything right here. If you're gonna cost more than Bonnaroo you better deliver on a lineup that's worth it, otherwise I'll go to the many other festivals that happen each year
Again: It's all about managing expectations and they straight-up didn't do that. Like, even if there's more bands than question marks coming and they explain that "in the comments" a large percentage of people are gonna assume that's all they have coming. There's still a chance this winds up being half-decent, but watching this rollout has been "fun" regardless.
Also bothering me that none of the band names or ????? are actually centered in the blocks they are in lmao
How is this a 3 day festival? only 13-14 bands a day? Edit: oh, this isn’t the full lineup. “way more”… THEN WHY MAKE THIS STUPID POSTER
The Bamboozle website looks like Myspace now. And the lineup page only lists three "headliners" https://www.bamboozlefestival.com/lineup
There are more artists then the blanks on the poster I think this was just quickly put out cause the hate they were getting in the comments
I mean I’m glad people are speaking their minds. You expect people to pay $350 plus hotel plus travel on Friday for what you have announced so far.
I can understand wanting to get something out there, but like... why wouldn’t you just put enough spaces for the actual amount of artists performing?
Roo has Odesza and Paramore confirmed and it’s $80 less expensive, 4 day long fest with music 24hrs a day…where did this dude come up with the price for this?
That new poster was obviously a last minute mock-up in response to the backlash they’re getting. Even if there are more acts left than the blank boxes, I still put all my money on Limp Bizkit and Steve Aoki being part of his “9 headliners.” Not that there’s anything wrong with either of them being in a festival’s top 10, but just don’t go implying that your top ten are all headline caliber.
