I cheesed Balthazar, lost Jaheira on the first floor of Moonrise Tower and can't beat Ketheric Thorn, reaaalllllly don't wanna have to go back and keep Jaheira alive
update 4 hours later: I managed to get her to survive through the Ketheric Thorn fight but the damn manspider keeps killing her on what would be it's last turn. Including one where she just got pushed off the building fml
I only just now cleared the goblin camp leaders. Not my dumbass not thinking about the consequences when I teleported back in.
Apparently the horniness of the game was a glitch. https://www.pcgamer.com/turns-out-b...nt-supposed-to-be-such-horndogs-it-was-a-bug/
Pretty big spoilers I suppose, concerning Shadowheart. Act II? She just killed Lae'zel in my game because I didn't attempt to dissuade her since I figured I'd fail the persuasion check, didn't think I'd see a party member kill another party member in this game, pretty shocking
Finally got to act 3 and entered the circus. 54 hours on my save and around 90 in steam. Still loving it but its so much to take in. Im forgetting earlier quests and characters when they come back out. Really trying to finish this, so hoping i can keep up and dont lose steam. Id also like to finish before phantom liberty but thats a big ask.
I'm about 12 hours into Act 1 and I wish the game held my hand a little more than it does because i never feel confident with what i'm doing or where i'm going. i may have to change the difficulty to easy because i'm struggling through some of these battles and my characters don't seem to level up often
My only advice is to read every spell, every actionable item etc. There are spells and things i didnt even know i had for a while. Hit the down arrow on the UI menu, and itll expand to show you everything you have. When i finally took a minute to hover over every action and spell, i learned new approaches. Youre right that the game lacks explanation, but its also based on D&D and rarely says no when you come up with a crazy combat idea so i think its intentional to let you know that hey, you can do just about anything. Positioning and avoiding casting a spell where the damage is mitigated are most important. Spread out, jump to high ground or melee range etc. You can also be cheesey. If you know dialogue is going to end in a fight, reload, spread your characters out and strike first.
The max level is 12 you’re not gonna be leveling up often. I suggest saving mid battle when things are going well so you can pull it up when things start going south instead of starting over
Has anyone played this on PS5? I have it downloaded but my life is consumed by Starfield currently. Just curious how it is with a controller mostly
I haven’t but from people who played it on steam deck I’ve heard it was easy to use on controller. I personally can’t stand most CRPGs without using a mouse and keyboard lol
Yeah it’ll be my first time playing one with a controller, so I’m just hoping it doesn’t get too overwhelming
I have heard its buggy, notably with a major bug that prevents tutorials from popping up. I said before, but control wise, dos2 with the same developer ran fine on ps5, though i got it years after launch. Ive also heard act 3 pushes ps5 to the limit. I dread that part on my pc. If it doesnt run, im cross saving and buying on ps5 to finish. No way i come this far to fail on performance issues. Im at the circus and know that the max power needed moments are coming
ive got a pretty mid PC and act 3 was mostly fine with some frame dips here and there but no crashes in my entire playthrough
Controller support is great on the PS5, though Id recommend looking up a tutorial video on all the things you can do because the in game tutorials leave something to be desired. I've also had one big crash that I had to unplug the PS5 and plug it back in to fix. Luckily for me, I am going to be playing this game very slowly so there will likely be several rounds of patches before I reach act 3.
Good to know, I’ll definitely check out a more robust tutorial. I don’t think I’ll be playing this until at least November, so I’m sure most of the kinks will be worked out by then.
So, I'm confused about something (not really plot spoilers but an Act 2 gameplay change) I ate the parasite to get special abilities, but Shadowheart doesn't have the fly ability? Is this normal?
Also (act 3 spoilers) thoughts on if I should kill Gortash after killing Orin? Is that a move I'll regret with later fights?
that’s what I did and everything worked out just fine. I beat this the other day. I agree with the general sentiment that act 3 doesn’t really live up to act 2. a giant brain is just kind of a dumb big bad. Still one of the best games ever. Excited to see what they add to it over time.
